The show should've been dedicated to Michael saying goodbye.

I thought that was the point of the whole thing, though. He couldn't/ didn't know how to say goodbye.

Even though Jim figured his plan out, Jim still had to act like they would see each other tomorrow in order to avoid a "good bye".

I think Pam was always the one that Michael was emotionally comfortable with over the years and it was fitting that she probably got the only goodbye.

Maybe not the greatest Office episode and not the greatest sitcom goodbye ever, but I thought it was still a very memorable and captivating episode.

Ya I think the writers were put in a tough spot, they didn't want make it seem like a series finale, but still needed to give Carrell a proper send off. I thought it was good. I was rolling when Will Ferrell was saying he used to be obese, and they cut to him sitting right in front of a vending machine.

Man, one of greatest comical characters of all time is gone. You'll be missed Michael Scott. Great, great job Steve Carell, I don't think I have ever become so uncomfortable watching the most embarrassing scenes ever! Too many outburst of laughter to count.

This will change the show completely and I hope they can hang because I do enjoy the whole cast. A lot of the show revolved around the other characters where the voice of reason to Michael's madness. I don't think that's going to work with a new character copying Michaels character.

Whatever they do decided to do I feel they have to get it down by the middle of next season or it won't survive after next year.

I watched Thursday's episode and I cannot stress more how good I thought it was. The scene at the airport is perfect.

Let me put it this way, it should've been about him attempting to say his goodbye's. Completely about him. The story arc for this season could've been put on hold. Everything from Deangleo and Andy to Gabe and Erin.

IMO, that was the point... he realized that even though he was leaving, everything else would continue to go on. The last thing I wanted was a memory montage; too cheesy and been done a million times.

Absolutely perfect way for him to leave the show if you ask me.

It was a satisfying send off, but I guess I was looking for a little more. For some reason I lost sound for the ending cake scene.

Michael Scott was a great character.

I wonder if James Spader will get the gig? I like him but don't know how I feel about him as the new head.

I don't know what to make of all that manager talk. It seems almost too obvious, ever since that "Oh, I've got big plans. . . " quote from Darryl earlier in the season. I'm sure he'll be in the running. It's just all up in the air for me. I'm clueless.

Yeah they keep blatantly hinting at Darryl, but I don't think that means he is the next manager, they just want to tease us a bit. I'm sure he will be in the running though.

It's possible, but I didn't see it as a hint - merely another homage to seasons past. Throughout this season, the writers have been very good at throwing in references to previous episodes, and this is no exception. Michael mentions in season 6 (the episode "Happy Hour") that he is writing a book called "Somehow I Manage".

I love all of the references that they throw in... it is really a treat for the hardcore Office fans.
