I would look it up, but I have a feeling you guys would give me a less scary example, that will not make me all paranoid like AVS forums can.

I am definitely going with a Plasma.
It's just a ghost image that may last seconds, maybe 3 or 4 seconds, It's like a logo in the corner, say your watching HBO or something, when you change to another channel and get a black screen you may see it for a second, BUT ONLY on a black screen, you don't see it again when watching any materiel

Only way I can explain it, it never stays though. No worries.

        Re: Plasma or LCD?

Just bought a Panny Plasma on Saturday. Even though it's "720p" it blows away the picture of alot of these super expensive LED 1080P tv's I saw at Best Buy.

And for only $580, a steal in my opinion. I was told if I make a jump to plasma to go with Panasonic. So far its been good advice.

Edit: Can someone explain to me what is meant by "breaking in" or "calibrating" my plasma. Just trying to learn some tips and tricks to make my tv's colors look even better.

breaking in period means keep the contrast as low as possible for at least 100 hours some say you don't have too, but I guess it's up to the user.

"Breaking in" was an absolute necessity with plasmas from say 8-10 years ago. Burn in was a serious concern. Plasma technology has improved to the point where you have to seriously abuse your set to cause it.

"Breaking in" is pretty much common sense if you decide to do it. Better to be safe than sorry is my motto.
            1) Lower the contrast (50-55 IMO...some people go as low as 45 but it just feels to dark for my taste).
            2) Make sure what you're watching takes up the entire screen. Change the aspect ratio to Fill or Zoom (different tvs have different names).
            3) Don't leave static images on the screen for hours-days on end.

Image retention is nothing to freak out over (the first time is scary if you are new to plasmas though).

PS- Sin City looks UNBELIEVABLY AMAZING in vivid/torch mode. The blacks and dark scenes are made for plasmas. I had to do it a few days after getting my tv. What's the use of having a Porsche if you're just gonna leave it in the garage?

You can but it's not a big deal. In theory, it will speed up the break in period since you can run the slides for hours on end with no worry. Just watching tv that fills the whole screen accomplishes the same thing.

Thinking of purchasing the following 55" Vizio LCD-LED. It was CNET's Editor's Choice award for 2010. Walmart has a 90 day price match guarantee which is nice seeing that should the price go down on or around the Super Bowl, I'd get money back. Anyone have one or seen one in the stores?

                    Re: Plasma or LCD?

I have seen it at a couple of Walmart stores actually plugged up and turned on with some kiddie blu ray movie being played on it. Picture wise it looks excellent.......sound however like with any LED tv is TERRIBLE. Sound like you listen to laptop speakers.

Not a problem if you going to hook it up to a home theatre system. And I doubt that tv goes on sale......they just now dropped that price not that long ago. 3 months ago that tv was $2,000.

I will say this, the box it comes in is wide as hell, so I hope you come in a SUV or pick up truck.

I'd recommend it. Simply because you can quickly get the 100-200 hours in by running slides while you're asleep at night or at work. It's painful to watch TV/Movies with the brightness/contrast turned down below 50% so I expedited the process by using slides.

So I would run the slides for 100-200 hours? And do you have a link for the slide set?

Well I will say that I might have put my foot in my mouth about THX mode, because im have been using it for everything like captianzombie has, and I can't use anything else right now, I mean I can see what they mean about it now, the picture is so freaking Clear and the colors are perfect, and I have been gaming on it, and now when I try to go back to my own settings something is off, it like reversed now.....lol

I'm going to leave in THX mode form now on.

I have the 47" LED 240hz Vizio, and love it. I didn't get it from Walmart, but I'm sure it's the same basic set.

Great pic, great price. Go for it.

Most reviews I saw give a slight edge to the VT25, but I spoke with Chad B (ISF Calibrator from Ohio) and he said the latest firmware on the Samsung (1032) put it above the VT25 in his book and all of the reviews were pre-1032 firmware.

I have read on AVS a handful of people having issues with the 8000 series as well as the VT25 (although for obvious reasons I rarely go into the VT25 threads anymore), but I have yet to experience any of these "issues". I think people often focus on the negative because they don't have any reason to complain about the positive. Personally, I'm glad I didn't let AVS swing me in the VT25 direction. While I'm sure it's a great TV, it's not worth $800+ more in my book.

Also, check out ABT Electronics or Cleveland Plasma. I purchased through Cleveland Plasma, but when the TV came, it said ABT Electronics on it so I assume Cleveland Plasma is a middleman.
The main thing i've heard about the c8000 is that the 58 incher is the one with the deep blacks, but the smaller ones are not as deep. The panasonics have deeper blacks then this tv, and even after they rise it's just as deep according to AVS. Also That tv has input lag at 100ms without game mode enabled. With game mode it's 35ms which is decent. There's also complaints about buzzing. I here the PQ is good on this tv, and for $800 that's a great price.
NBA2K is the standard of sports games period.
