If those were the only 2 options, I'd save the $150. Having never seen either in person, I'd be hard pressed to think there is THAT much if any difference in performance.

That Panasonic is a good set, and has low input lag for and LCDTV.

Not to mention an IPS Pro panel. So great colors and viewing angles.

Might have to pick that up. Was going out tonight to get a 40-46" for the game room and really didn't want to spend more than $600, which puts me pretty much in Vizio land.

That LG is the same price at BB as well, but of course you gotta pay tax on it.

        Otherwise, I'm looking at 40" Samsung 1080P 60hz.

I would stick with a 120 Hz set if you decide on a LCD.

            This.

My buddy's girlfriend bought him the C530 for Christmas and it is awful. My A750 is almost three years old and blows it out of the water.

Thanks for the heads up Blzr, I picked this up on Friday night and it should be here later this week. Checked the next day and the price had already gone up to $599, which is still $130 cheaper than Best Buy ($200 when you add in tax). I don't think for the price (no tax, no shipping), this set could be beat and the timing couldn't have been better for us.

Also went to Target today and the Panisonic 42" 720P plasma was going for $569.

Good purchase. Now the next question: Mount or stand?

Oh, it will be mounted. Already ordered the mount with a few HDMI's from monoprice. $20 ($30 with shipping) for what I would have paid $75-$100 at the store for the mount. The mount should get here the day before the TV, so that worked out perfectly.

Was a pain in the *** to try and track down the VESA pattern for the TV, though. Every other TV tells you the pattern, but for this TV (maybe for all Panasonics), they only tell you what Panasonic brand stand works. I actually had to go to Best Buy yesterday and measure it on the back of the TV.

We now have 2 LCD's (40 in the bedroom and now the 42 in the game room) and 2 DLP's (56 in the family room and a 44, that I guess is going in our guest room and will replace the last Tube that I probably will ever own).

Damn you DirecTV for making the HD boxes so damn expensive.

How do you like the DLP technology? I was and still am intrigued by the 73" 1080p Mitsy for $1400. Luckily for me, a software review company gave me and 6 other teachers a FREE 720p 3LCD projector so that took me out the market. My wallet said thank you.

I can't speak for Trevy, I used to have a DLP before going the LCD/Plasma route as my main display. If I had the room, I would have stuck it out with the DLP a bit longer. For the most part DLP's are maintenance free unless you torch the bulb or in the older models the color wheel went out (new ones obviously don't use the color wheel anymore). The newer ones are built so much better and such an excellent deal for size and price. At $1400, that is a steal for a 73" Mitsubishi. I always thought the PQ on the Samsung 1080p 50" was really good. While it never compared to today's technology, you never felt like you were watching subpar HD content. I wonder how long Mitsubishi will stay in the DLP business since they are still cranking out these sets and even have 3D versions out. Mitsu is the only game in town for DLP, which everyone has run the other direction.

Now that I've gone plasma, it is so hard to look back. I've had some crazy paranoia with image retention since Thursday. I only see it on input screens and it lasts for a few minutes to 24 hours never affecting any kind of viewing. You really have to go looking for it, which is what's creating my issue. LOL!

Yeah, that was my problem till Saturday evening when I realized how quickly it goes away. I know I'll keep looking as I'm curious.....but will not let it bother me anymore. Like yesterday, we watched a letterbox movie which left the bars on screen....but after a simple scrolling bar white wash for 5 minutes it all went away. My plan for the first 1,000 hours of TV viewing is to keep the screen as uniform as possible after playing games or viewing anything with logos. I was reading that after 500-1,000 hours that IR is much less and in some cases not even existent. In some ways I was thinking of going back to LCD before Saturday, but there are too many issues on that side too + the costs are several hundred for the TV that I want which would have uniformity and panel lottery problems. The G20 is good enough, I just need to work on getting the plasma misconceptions out of my head.

I still have yet to see any IR on my TV. I've looked hard for it and nothing. I was paranoid at the beginning, but when I finally realized that I wasn't seeing any, I relaxed. Even watched a 2.5 hour movie with bars on the top and bottom this weekend. I was sure I'd see IR after that, but nothing.

It sure seems like the same exact model from the same exact manufacturer can have a drastic difference in terms of IR. I read a few people on AVS with my TV are experiencing IR when they're on ESPN for only 10-15min (the ESPN logo in the right hand corner). I've been on ESPN for hours with no IR at all. Go figure.

I've read of some people having the dreaded plasma buzz with the G20, but then there are others that say they do not hear it. I sometimes hear it on my set, but I have to be standing right on top of the TV. It isn't anything that is an issue.

With image retention, I only see it when changing HDMI inputs if there is any at all. I've never seen on during regular TV programming. There are guys that say they have never seen it with this model too, so I guess it varies like you said. I haven't had any ESPN, FOX or ABC logos yet on my set. Especially since we watch a lot of ABC shows/news.

At this point, its like who knows anymore with TV's as the technology rapidly changes. It just comes down to pick your poison and just enjoy what you have or else drive yourself nuts like I have. LOL!
