Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
Here's my simple rule of thumb. NEVER buy anything (outside of a house/car) that you don't currently have the disposable cash to purchase. The only use of a credit card is ease of use that should be paid in full at the end of every month (ie: I'm not bringing $3000 to the store to buy a TV or writing a check...I'll just put it on my CC and pay it off at the end of that month). Of course there are extraneous circumstances, like a single parent trying to make ends meet to provide for their children, but otherwise, it's not a good idea.Comment

We'll to each his own. I have a BB card & & use their No Interest Policy all the time. Never paid late, never didn't finish paying off a promotion late. For me it allows to make payments they way I want. If 1 month I want pay the minimum I do. If 1 month I want to pay much more I can.Comment

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
My next issue will be figuring out what kind of TV stand I want. I don't know if my Polk CS10 will be able to fit on the stand if the TV sits on there as well, and we aren't about to start punching holes in my wall to mount it. Maybe I have to get the ugly kind of stand where that pole sticks up from the back and the TV goes on it, so the entire stand is clear to fit things on.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
I'm okay to pay up front right now, but the down payment looks more enticing in general.

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
I already checked that out, and I should be good as far as sight. I can always angle my speaker if I want as well, but I'm thinking it will either be too tall for the television on its mount, or I don't know what. Maybe I can stack the TV on something for it to be a bit "taller," but I don't want it to look too makeshift.
Any luck with putting center channels behind television sets, or is the imaging not that great there? I think it would just sound muffled and disastrous.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

With the speakers, or the TV?

I've never heard of putting the center behind the tv. Has to go in front....usually right below the tv. What's your audio setup going to be? 3.0, 3.1, 5.0, or 5.1?Comment

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
I was actually referring to being able to point your remote(s) toward your IR devices. Obviously this is not a issue with blu tooth devices (PS3). If the tv is in front of your bed and your equipment is on a lower shelf (since the CS10 will be on top) then it might be an issue pointing the remote at that stuff.

Line of sight will be fine. I'll be using my PS3 mostly anyway, so I'm really not concerned about that heh.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Anyone here have a Hitachi 50V500a or similar? Curious to know what you have for your display settings on your tv for optimum xbox 360 picture.EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.Comment

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
Actually, my room is very small. My subs also aren't that large, either.
I want the 59" screen because I want to future-proof my TV purchases for when I move out. Plus, it will almost only be for movie watching (maybe some games and MLB.TV here and there, but I'm going to keep my LCD for that). Like I said, my viewing distance will be just over 8 feet away, and that's within the recommended range for a 59" screen, so I'm not going to worry about that too much.
My receiver is the Yamaha RX-V667. I seem to recall paying over $600 for this back in February, but I love it regardless. My two subs are from my old HTiB and from my Harman Kadron speaker set that I bought packaged with the Yamaha for another extra $100 (though it is a much more expensive set, it was just a good deal is all). Unfortunately, I don't use any of those speakers anymore with my new center channel and bookshelf upgrades (and they won't mount to my speaker stands, which sucks).
I want to trade in those two subs for one sub, either a Bic F12 or something else just north of $200. I might have to do that anyway, because given the new TV stand I will get for this television, I will only be able to fit one sub in my room at this point.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment
