    Re: Plasma or LCD?

Funny story. Went to Best Buy to kill some time before the library opened up. Walked by the Panasonic 3D display and this older BB employee came up to me as I was watching Avatar 3D. He was gushing over the VT20 and barely came up for air. Normally they push the LED LCDs but I looked at his white shirt and he was the Panasonic rep. That explained everything.

Had to let him know I already had 2 plasmas and used to work in electronics. Then he got away from his sales pitch and just started talking about the 3D technology and why it's not catching on.

It sure seems like the same exact model from the same exact manufacturer can have a drastic difference in terms of IR. I read a few people on AVS with my TV are experiencing IR when they're on ESPN for only 10-15min (the ESPN logo in the right hand corner). I've been on ESPN for hours with no IR at all. Go figure.
i see it on my set, but it goes away very quickly.

Does anyone use power conditioner's for the their HT setup? I was wondering if they are worth investing in. I wouldn't want anything expensive.

I do. Best investment I could have made. I suggest you get 1 also. I have a Monster Power Center. Brought it about 5 years ago. It's been awesome. My model doesn't exist anymore, but I believe this is it's newer version:

Anything with Monster's name on it will be 2-3x the going rate. Belkin makes comparable product for 1/3 the price.

Not saying Monster doesn't make good products, just saying they are way too overpriced.

I saw Belkin has one for around $100 on Amazon. Are these highly recommended? My brother used to have one years ago until an electrician fried it out on him. The HT nuts are recommending them, do they really keep your equipment safe from power surges, etc?

Well for me it was a no brainer. I have over $4,000 worth of HT Equipment. Not willing to take the chance a surge basically fries my equipment. Helps me sleep very well @ night...

CZ, you know I would never give steer ya wrong bro. It's worth the investment. Trust me. It will protect everything you have plugged into it.

EDIT: That Belkin is great buy. Highly Recommend it

In theory, anything that is going to absorb a voltage surge instead of your expensive home theater equipment is a good idea. Jury is still out on whether a $200-300 conditioner is better than your $10-30 surge protector. (I've never used anything other than a $20 surge protector, but then again I've never had to use it)

Yeah that was my way of thinking, since a $3 HDMI or Cat5 cable works just as good as a $80 one.

The $20 surge protector has a $30,000 warranty

My HT equipment can easily be replaced within $30K, so $20 is my price. LOL

Thanks. The Belkin looks like a good price, not sure I really need one, but will consider it.

I have a $50 Monster surge protector, which I've had for about 7 years now and the darn thing still works good. I bought this way back when I was led to believe Monster was the best.
