 Re: Plasma or LCD?

 Glad to be of help.

As you saw In the pictures I posted a couple of pages back, if you need furniture to place BR, Receiver, cable box & are also are thinking about mounting your TV, all-in-one furniture should be an option. What's your thought on wall mounting? The wife really wants to mount the tv on the wall, however I'm apprehensive as it then limits us if we ever want to move it, along with making it difficult to fiddle with the cabling. Either way, it seems to be around the same amount of money if I hang it or not. I'd still need a cabinet to ether sit it on or lay the receiver, blu-ray player, etc. on.

If Wall Mounting is really what's wanted I suggest you purchase your Mount from monoprice as they offer really sturdy & quality mounts @ great prices. I also suggest purchasing any cables from them you may need also

 Re: Plasma or LCD?

That is my problem too. My TV is just a tad bit higher on the wall than I want it to be, but because of the kids (I should say the baby, my other 3 kids know not to throw things....LOL!) I can't bring it down more for now, but once the little guy gets older, I plan to bring it down more to eye level.Comment

 Re: Plasma or LCD?

Totally agree with the last few posts. A good home theater system makes all the difference. Unless you have to, buying separate pieces is the way to go. Get a quality receiver, powered subwoofer, and front sound stage. You can get away with saving money on the rears.

If you have the room, floorstanding speakers can pack a serious punch.

Good Bookshelf speakers do a fine job as well.

No offense to anyone that's a big fan of Bose products, but you can get much better audio gear for a fraction of the price.

Oh yeah, another vote for putting it on a tv and component stand.Last edited by GAMEC0CK2002; 01-05-2011, 05:29 PM.Comment

I was curious today so I went into the SM and these were my numbers:

 00229:40 - count: 31

229 hours and 40 minutes having been turned on 31 times. I figure about 50 hours have been logged on since we brought the set home last week. I guess this dude didn't know what he was talking about that this was sitting there for several weeks since it is about 180 hours give or take some since I brought it home.Comment

You like the way it looks better than the Plasma? Or just like the "PC feel" of playing at a desk?I hooked my PS3 back up to my my 32" LG LCD at my work desk again, don't know, but like playing it on that set better.

I would think it looks better on the plasma ultimately.

Well. At the movies now getting ready to watch True Grit.

Just left Best Buy. Was looking at the VT20 in 3D with Avatar and other samples.

I must pick my jaw up off the ground. WOW! Best 3D picture quality I have ever seen. Best picture quality period. I may have to get a VT series. My goodness.

Now I had one question. BB loops never run the best. And the G20 was running on the loop, not a dedicated video or movie. It had a slight flicker I noticed almost like a CRT refresh rate noticeable on red an yellows taking up the screen. Is this just due to the bad feed? Cause the VT had zero flicker and looked set up right (had its own blue ray running in THX i assume). I did not think these two sets would have that much of a difference in that regards.

 Any answers would help, thanks.
