Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
The room will be about 16 ft by 20ft, roughly.
My biggest question is actually how to fit it all in. I want to get a new Sony and hang it on the wall, so I don't have any media furniture planned. Because we're building it, all the wires would be concealed. Ideally, there's a little alcove where i can build some shelving to mimic an open audio closet, but I don't know the first thing about hiding it all in there and still be able to change the channel, for instance. And if I do all that, where the heck do I put the subwoofer?
Any advice is greatly appreciated!Comment

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
Moving very soon and will end up mounting my 55" CX as the room its going in is a bit smaller so the goal is to preserve space. Couple of questions I have:
1) Im deciding between two Sanus mounts. The VLF613 and the VLF728. Does anyone have any experience with mounts and can offer insight?
2) The sound from the CX is decent with the stand, but if im going to mount it I'd rather get a soundbar and mount that just under the TV. Does anyone have any suggestions on good eARC soundbars to pair with the CX?
Thanks!PSN / Xbox GT - BLUEnYELLOW28Comment

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
I'm building out our basement, and with it, a theatre room. I think the Denon is a must - wondering if I need 9.2 vs. 7.2, and those 8K models will pair perfectly with my PS5. That SVS sub looks amazing. What do you think about Klipsch speakers, and is there any benefit to getting all the same brand?

1) I've used both mounts. Typically for a full motion bracket, I'll just do the BLF328 though. https://www.sanus.com/en_US/products/mounts/blf328/

The LG A1 Oled tv I saw comes out tommorw just saw it on amazon. Its the first I have been able to find it for sale has before all I saw was it was supposed to come out in April but didnt know what part of April. Now what I am wondering is the 55 inch is 1600 the 55 inch LG CX has been 1400 for several weeks basically. Now I know the A1 is kind of a worse Oled cheaper model in a sense in that it dosn't have HDMI 2.1 but I am wondering with it being a new model and it only being 200 more than CX last years model do you guys think it will make it so the CX gets even cheaper?Comment

I have Klipsch speakers in the mid tier range. They aren't the best speakers available but really at that level it's hard to tell the difference in most of the brands unless you do it for a living. If you are watching TV, movies, and music you will be fine with any mid range or above. Just get an adequate sized sub and AVR to power the speakers.
I would definitely stay with the same brands for the speakers. The sub can be different but if you have different speakers you could end up hearing the differences since you have them all running at the same time.
For placement, check with a installer or wiring company. Crutchfield will also do a free wiring recommendation for you and tell you which speakers to use and placement if you give them your plans.
Sub should always go in a corner to bounce the sound around. If you think you may want a 2nd sub in the future, run the wire now to the location.
Run conduit so you can add wires later if needed and make sure they leave pull strings. The good thing is you should really only need 1 wire running to the TV and the speakers all going back to your media location. You can control everything with a remote with Bluetooth or wifi connection like a harmony remote that will then send ir commands in the closet. RF remotes also work if all your devices supports it.
1 more thing to think of, floor outlets at your seating location. You don't want to have to run cords if you need to power a chair, laptop, phone, etc in your great looking room.

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
Hey Scott (or anyone else that would know), when getting a new OLED, do I have to wait for a certain period of time before playing games on it? When I Googled it, I saw some forum posts saying that you should wait 100-200 hours of use before gaming, but those were all from 4-5 years ago. My understanding is the models from the last couple years are all better for burn in, so maybe waiting is unnecessary now. I have a 77" C1 being delivered tomorrow and don't want to mess it up right off the bat.Comment

Not sure if you made your decision yet, but go with 9.2. You can either drive more remote speakers in another room or put in 4 speakers in the ceiling for atoms .... it is great.

So Denon 9.2, SVS sub, and speakers are still a question mark. The first two get me $2K in, so I'd love to be under $5K all in for sound at most since I'm planning on shelling out for the new Sony 85". Welcome any recommendations on the right speakers if not Klipsch.Comment
