Was just gonna rescue you from the Vizio. It's not like it's a bad TV. But like Scott said, the upscailing is basically crap. I had P series for a while until I got to my 3rd one because of screen issues and asked for a refund, which surprisingly they gave me.

Ended up get the Sony X900F. Upscailing on that is amazing. And think it's a pretty damn good TV overall.

But I definitely think you'll like the TCL. Another great TV at an amazing price.

My 9 year XBR died yesterday, so I upgraded to the A9G Master Series OLED.

This is my first 4K TV, so I upgraded to the PS4 Pro too.

I use my Sony soundbar as a receiver to switch inputs, and it’s older ... it only has HDMI 1.4. Is that a problem? Will my PS4 not play in 4K unless it goes through the TV?

If I get a new one, do I need 4K throughput or just a system with HDMI 2.0 which I’d imagine is the standard for all new ones?

Needs to go through the tv. If you can, opt for a 2.1 system and not a sound bar. You can always build onto a component system, but once you buy a sound bar, you’re done.

          That's kind of what I thought ...

Would this work? It's a soundbar but it's also 2.1 with a subwoofer. And sorry, should have mentioned that my current soundbar also has a subwoofer that acts as a receiver.

Right now, my old Sony soundbar has all 4 HDMI connections going into the subwoofer. With the newer one linked above, I'm hoping to use the 4 HDMI inputs on my TV instead, and then just use the soundbar system for audio only.

Possible? Appreciate you lending your expertise.

It's flexible, but I'm more just trying to understand if a newer soundbar would work at all. Part of this is just wanting ease of setup, realizing my current audio solution is going to rob me of the 4K video output I paid for.

I'm looking at one now that has 4K and HDR support ... does that mean it'll work with my new TV and PS4 Pro without lowering the video signal? Sorry, way out of my league here!

It would work, it's just that using a sound bar is just throwing money away. Here's what I would do.

$1400+cables and you're set, plus you can always add on if you choose to do surround sound in the future.

                    Scott, so appreciate this.

I think for now, I’m going to grab a cheaper 2.1 bar with 4K pass through. This is for my living room, but when I build out the man cave, I know what I want now!

The main priority is having external audio that doesn’t hinder my video output. If I can toss $300 at it to solve that problem, I’m happy.

Try to find a 3.1 channel sound bar if possible. That will give you better dialogue, plus the center speaker is the most important speaker in a surround sound setting.

Not enough improvements over the C9 IMO. Now the GX, totally different story. Love that TV.

Same processor, but the aesthetic is much better. It's also one that's meant to be mounted. It's also only 0.9" thick.
