You can break in the image with the slides while you are at work or sleeping. At night I put the slides on and set the tv to shut off after 4 hours and that has cleaned any of the IR that I had.

When you get the tv new, just watch full screen for the first 100 hrs and run the slides when you sleep with the auto shut off on.

Plasmas are incredible

That's my biggest concern. Is it really that easy? Also, are there any 'smart' plasma tvs?

Yeah I've read all that. I've also seen sets where it is not even noticeable.

I think people get too wound up over some issues. I've seen some pretty bad examples but others are just barely visible. I guess for the price you should be completely happy but still...

I may pick up the HX820 if I can see it in person first. Sounds like it has the "pop" and wow of the UN without the concerns of the issues those seem to face.

Either way, I'm not really concerned with an issue like that. Most places I would purchase from have a solid exchange policy.

Mine comes with its own little wiping cloth, but I have yet to open it, let alone use it.

I think people get too wound up over some issues. I've seen some pretty bad examples but others are just barely visible. I guess for the price you should be completely happy but still...

If that's the case, then i would go for the best deal they will give you. All these sets will provide a fantastic picture.

it is very easy,,,, usb stick and transfer the slides to it and run it from there by attaching the usb to your tv usb slot.

The PN51D7000 that Pared is looking at is the same one I have but in 59 inchnes and it is a smart tv

Your Android or Iphone will work with it

Since you like the oversaturated look of the samsung, the Sony is not going to give you that over the Sammy. The Sony offers better blacks but Sammy offers better saturation that you crave.

Fast motion video is still better on the Samsung over the Sony.



Motion on the Sony Bravia KDL-55HX820 was solidly disappointing. Not only was it a bit blurrier than we’d hope, but straight edges skewed into diagonals as they moved across the screen. Images were also broken up by horizontal scan lines that coincided with a stair-stepping along the edge. 1080i inputs, which are used on some cable channels, made this effect even more noticeable. All in all, we expected better from a high-end TV like this one


Viewing Angles:

The viewing angle of the Sony Bravia KDL-55HX820 was strikingly poor, falling below 50% of its maximum contrast when only 8˚ off-center. With a total viewing angle of 17˚, you will need to position yourself right in front of the TV for the best results. Although the contrast falls dramatically, the color remains relatively true.

It really does not need pushing since it was highly rated by Cnet and in the shootout it won (Samsung PN8000) as the tv of the year.

But don't get me wrong. I love the Sammy LED as well and the Sony one is very nice as well.

I am just pointing out the issues of both so you can then see them and make a sound decision. Money should be well spent

The Samsung’s picture, like that of most LCD sets, also starts to lighten and fade as you move further off axis. It’s better than some LCDs we’ve seen in this respect, but the best horizontal viewing angle is still less than 25 degrees from the center of the screen—and even less for a critical viewer.

and the main complaint,

But the Samsung does have one significant weakness: non-uniform screen illumination. While it avoids the serious light spill near the frame that I’ve observed with some edge-lit models, there is a bit of furry, grayish lightening visible at the sides and corners of the screen in dark scenes. I could live with that. However, the main issue was noticeable non-uniformity in other areas of the screen, most often seen as gray streaks in dark scenes. They were subtle but clearly visible once I knew where to look for them. They appeared most often in the lower right-hand corner of the screen.
The complexity of most bright program material largely masked the problem with that type of image, but I occasionally saw dark, ghost-like horizontal and vertical bands in large areas of uniform color, such as a cloudless, bright blue sky

From every NX720 or HX820 I've seen in person, none of them exhibited that uniformity issue. Blacks and shadow detail on the Sony's do have an edge over the Sammy's, although the UND's do exhibit punchier colors.

Only the local-dimming HX929 and the Kuro delivered a consistently deeper black, and although the Samsung UND6400 and LG LW5600 came closest to the NX720, the Sony was still visibly darker. Evidence of those black levels was most obvious in the black letterbox bars and dark areas, like the sky above the mansion in chapter 4 (23:18).

Yea the issue is EDGE LED which suck in my opinion but the plasma has none of that and best colors around.

The Sony has incredible blacks but suffers from motion blur which is not an issue on the plasma.

Price is another key issue and all Sony tv's that are higher ends are way to expensive
