That's because sammys are usually bad TVs for gaming. They have good picture quality for movies, but gaming they're high on input lag. Also most samsungs dont really reduce the input lag by much with/without game mode. I own 2 samsungs and I'm going for a Panasonic plasma next. They have the least input lag out of all big HDTVs. The best way to notice this is by playing games that require precise timing(baseball, fighting games). I notice it a lot while playing the show.

Re: Plasma or LCD?
I got back from Best Buy earlier returning the Samsung C600 LCD, decided to go with the Panasonic G20 plasma. I was going to go with the 55" Sammy LCD, but since they were all out I saw the G20 open box and said I'll give it a shot (they didn't have anymore new ones in stock in the area). I have 45 days from today if there is anything wrong with it.
So far, no worries with the lighting in the room and adjacent kitchen as we have the lights on in both rooms. Tomorrow will be the real test once the blinds are opened up.
So far I've watched 1 movie and some sports, WOW! does the image look better than the LCD I had.......more natural. Blacks and colors overall look much deeper from what I can notice. The reasoning behind me switching had to do that I wasn't too happy with the size of the LCD and the set I had just didn't do it for me. LOL!Comment

Re: Plasma or LCD?
LOL! I was just thinking the same thing......how can I ever go back to an LCD. Just the first few hours I have spent with this TV and I'm impressed. I have watched a few movies off of cable, a Blu-ray, and some channel surfing on sporting events. I really like the natural reproduction of colors so far and boy do Black's look deep as hell. Will fire up the PS3 on this in a few hours and see how well that runs on here.Comment

Movie Mode with game mode disabled: Played 1 full inning and I did see input lag....moreso with pitching. I put up 2 runs against CC Sabathia with the Pirates. Single by McCutchen and a HR by Garrett Jones. There were a few pitches I felt I timed well, but I was late on. Using the meter while pitching (which I never normally do as I prefer classic pitching), was more difficult. I threw a handful of pitches in the dirt because I missed my mark late.
Standard Mode with game mode enabled: You're forced to use Standard Mode with game mode enabled. I don't like Standard Mode, but I did find hitting/pitching to be better. I REALLY noticed it with meter pitching. Much more precise. Looks like I'll have to find some calibration settings for Standard Mode.Comment

Re: Plasma or LCD?
Only concern I read about are the Panasonic's rising blacks. I don't know if it's another overblown issue, like many other's on AVS, or legit. The G20 and G25 are great TV's from everything I've read though.Comment

Re: Plasma or LCD?
Was an issue of last year's line. Panasonic says they corrected the error. No way of knowing for sure until this years plasmas get older.Comment

Re: Plasma or LCD?
Yeah you're correct. The only thing with that is that some are seeing it while others aren't. I was going to get the g25 this week, but CES is about 1 week away so I decided to wait and see the 2011 panasonic models. Panasonic bought the pioneer elite kuro technology and it's suppose to be implemented on some of their 2011 models. I can't wait to see if they do it for 2011 models.NBA2K is the standard of sports games period.Comment

Re: Plasma or LCD?
Some impressions for those that have asked me and wondering how things with this set are going.
Pros:
-Blacks are very deep, haven't noticed this dark blacks since CRT's and even to a degree with my old RPTV.
-Colors are really strong and do not look washed out or faded. They have a very natural pop to them.
-The entire picture is just plain natural looking, especially with faces as a good example.
-I do not use Game mode at all and there is very little in input lag. It is to the point where its not even noticeable.
-Gaming on this set is great, colors pop and there is no issues with IR or burn in so far. I played a few games that head the hud displayed at all time and didn't even notice any IR. One good way to test this is when I shut off the system and left it on the input display, there was no IR left at all.
-Orbital Pixel Shifter is on automatic, so it shifts the pixels when needed. I do not notice the pixels moving as others that are pickier have noted that they do.......I do not.
-The Panny G20 does not make any buzzing noise like the Sammy C550 does, which is a huge plus.
-Watching football on here is pure bliss.....no need for 120hz, and between the uniforms, field, and fans.........just a very colorful presentation.
-Much better viewing angles than when viewing any of the LCD's I own.
-Plasma's have a uniform screen, which was a problem with the LCD I returned. Went through 2 returns on that model and the screen was still not completely uniform.
-THX mode just plain kicks ***!
-Overall......Chad B endorses this set!LOL!
Cons:
-There was some sunlight coming through 2 of my windows, there was a small reflection. I just closed the blinds on the smaller window and that faint glare/reflection was no more.
-I had some weird green screen issue from my cable box while changing inputs. I later found out on AVS that its a problem with Comcast Motorola boxes and this TV.....mainly being Comcast's issue.
-The menu GUI I do not like too much coming off of a Samsung. Samsungs have the best GUI and Samsung models give you all calibration settings right at your finger tips without having to go to the service menu. To make changes to certain aspects of the G20, you need to go to the service menu. I'm not going to bother doing that.
-------------------------------------------
At the end of the day I do feel kind of dumb for not giving plasma a chance. I think my fears about IR, Burn-in, and glare were holding me back. After 2 days with this set my mind has changed on plasma. Anyone that was fearing this too and I am a worry-wort at times, you do not.Last edited by CaptainZombie; 01-03-2011, 03:06 PM.Comment

Re: Plasma or LCD?
Like CaptainZombie, I was nervous about IR and burn-in with my C8000. I haven't even seen the slightest bit of IR and no burn-in at all...and I turned off pixel shifting earlier in the week.
It sure seems like IR and burn-in is a thing of the past - which is great because I have not seen a better picture than with a plasma...deeper blacks, excellent colors etc...Comment
