You don't think they'd screw me on a price match?

I fully anticipate the response of "since we don't have that in stock we won't price match" and getting screwed in the process.

Since I'm in no rush, I could wait until then just to guarantee I get the model I want at a good price. Pretty much my plan was to go someplace local and get it immediately so I can return if there were clouding issues.

That plus a squaretrade agreement would cover me well.

Just don't want to pay the tax I'd save if I went through amazon.

Yeah I mean if I may be honest, I don't know how many households actually protect themselves in this manner. Since I wasn't ever truly educated about surge protection and what not, how many "casual hi-def owners" or whatever have actually been forewarned about this kind of stuff as well?

I'm looking at the Panamax M5400-PM when all is said and done, though. I do hope for that improvement (or "noise filtration") in the video and audio, as I definitely see where it would be found in the video, and most people note that they normally witness cleaner audio more recognizably at the same time. Obviously, the important thing is to act as a surge protector... but I'll take what I can get out of the bad boy while I'm at it. Running my TV, receiver, subwoofer, PS3, [eventual] cable box, and even a laptop would be heavy-ish duty that I'm sure I could justify the purchase... unless you all think there's a reason I should go lower than that and not be missing out on any significant improvements along the way.

I am having a LED and a Plasma both and I guess LED is much better..!!

I'm not so sure on the LED>>LCD>>Plasma>>DLP that you quoted. Much depends on viewing habits/space.

Just two sets that I really like. Open to suggestions for sure.

IR is the only thing swaying me towards the UN. I really don't want to be bothered with being concerned about the issue. Considering I'm obsessive to a fault at times it's something I really need to consider.

I appreciate the honesty. That was my number one concern - I game 50% of the time on this set and just love the over-saturation the UN provides as well.

I guess I was just torn b/c the PN was cheaper. The 240Hz option on the LED seems to be sufficient enough from what I've seen on demo units yesterday (football).

Still up in the air though.

If you're looking for the best bang for your buck tv, I would look at the Sony NX720 or stick with the Sammy PND7000 on your list. They both received the CNET editor's choice.

I am in the market for a LED or Plasma.

Last year I purchased a 37in LCD. Nice tv for the bedroom. I need one for the living room. 47in seems like a good fit.

What am I looking at? Price-wise? I really would love to stay under $1,000, if at all possible.

See, but I've read the same thing about the PN. I'm not so much worried about that as long as I can get it locally and return it if the set is defective. Seems to be a crapshoot either way.

I've seen UN's that are defect free and the same goes for the PN. I have a 4-5 year old LCD that has been nothing but fantastic despite all the problems I've read online about blown capacitors and such. I'm not really worried about defects...

But you're right - best bang for my buck certainly is the PN. Guess IR is just the biggest thing I don't really want to deal with. That and the break in period... I just want to have a TV I can game on without concern.

Well, for four years I was concerned with my input lag for gaming on my 23" LCD. Now I'm lag-free!

Exactly. I've seen plasmas and they are gorgeous, but I don't want to deal with any break in periods or slides. I barely have the time. I get home from work around 7ish and just want to turn on and watch, or game.

I have an LCD and man the picture on an LED is a huge improvement.

Even though Plasmas maybe have the best looking picture, I think the convenience factor wins over for me, unfortunately.

You can break in the image with the slides while you are at work or sleeping. At night I put the slides on and set the tv to shut off after 4 hours and that has cleaned any of the IR that I had.

When you get the tv new, just watch full screen for the first 100 hrs and run the slides when you sleep with the auto shut off on.

Plasmas are incredible

Sammy's main problem is the screen uniformity on the UN models. The clouding and flash lighting has been mentioned in reviews and by numerous users.

I can safely say that the HX820 mentioned before is gorgeous in person. My dad just picked one up recently, and i gladly set it up for him. No screen uniformity issues to report. I might grab once myself, or the NX720. Haven't decided yet.
