Panny beats out Samsung in certain features for sure, but not all, price included.
The Samsung last year was incredible, I am strictly referring to 2012 models

I have a Sammy and Panny plasma both from 2011 and both are excellent sets with my Sammy having better reference colors and the Panny having better blacks.

I have the Panny in the living room and Sammy in the bedroom

I am referring to this years crop of tv's and the Sammy this year was not as good as last year even in their prize reference color achievement from last year.

This year the Panny colors are better and so is the black levels. You can get the ST50 model which is their middle of the pack set and have a better set then the high end Sammy of this year both in color reproduction and black levels.

My 18-year-old (yes, it really is 18 years old) Panasonic that I have in my bedroom has just about had it; the tuner is going bad. So I'm looking to get a new LCD for the bedroom. A 26-incher is the max for the space. No gaming on it, and I'll probably rely on the tuner to pick up HD, at least for now. I've got a 42-inch LG LCD as my main TV, and I'm quite happy with it. Thinking about going LG again, but I'm open to suggestions.

          What's your budget?

Now the 720p or 1080p question. Will this be doubling as a computer monitor? If so, I'd say go with 1080p for reading computer text.

All the major brands have 720p offerings in the size you need for $220-300. 1080p sets generally start in the low $300s + I say this using amazon.com as a baseline. You might be able to find a deal at your local Best Buy, Walmart, Target, etc.

Really just comes down to who's picture quality or brand you like best and what inputs you need.

If you're one a limited budget this is a slightly smaller 24" 1080p LED backlit model. Also has a 2 yr warranty for $137 shipped. Not going to beat a Sony, Sammy or LG in picture quality but you'll be saving $150-200.

What qualifies as huge? 60", 65", 70" .... I'm sure you realize LCD/LED prices skyrocket once you go 55 inches and up

An 82" 1080P 3D DLP will run about the same price as a 55" LCD/LED. If you have the space, its another option to consider.

Do you have a preference on the type of 3D? Active or passive

How often would you use 2 displays at the same time?

Man Im a bit spoiled... we have tvs in the conference room at work..55 inches, 60 inches... thats huge I know but is it for home? Sure it is

Biggest tv I have for home is 42 inches... I think 50-55 inches would suffice I guess

Honestly if I wanted 80 and up I'd use my projector but the room has to be dark to see the screen which I dont want

Might use both monitors everyday just not for extra long periods of time, so this 32 inch vizio im using for the computer monitor/gaming tv in my room would be okay for a 2nd monitor, so I decided to go with 1 tv

I just want the biggest 3d LCD/LED I can get less than 2k. Just looking for a good deal.. The 55 inch 3d LED we have at work (samsung) cost 1300 at costco during black friday cyber monday last year.. that would be great

                      Buy a 50" Samsung LED ES6500

                      or 55" Samsung LED ES7100

I own a 46" Samsung ES8000 and you can't go wrong either way.
