Best Buy has Deal of the Day sales on LCD's. They aren't every day and they're hardly the top brands, but they exist.
In recent memory, the 32" 1080p models I've seen discounted are from Dynex, Coby, and Hiteker. They aren't going to fork over the Samsung, Sharp, Sony, and LG LCD's that easily.

As far as the LG and Sammy, there's no doubt that BBY has discounts on those; I was merely referring to the Deal of the Day sales.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
I know you have a Samsung plasma Blzer. Not trying to say they're bad. If I recall you also got it calibrated, which can make a lot of tv's look nice. In the process one actually of doing my own tv. Stuffs tough on Panasonic's that's for sure. My color spectrum looks darn near perfect right now though.

THe D8000 was excellent last year in terms of video processing and the best colors in the biz. The VT30 had better blacks and the sweet looking one sheet of glass but it had a bug with the color decoding which made manual calibration impossible.
This year the VT50 is just much better then the E8000Comment

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
Alright folks, with the HD-PVR 2 and some rewiring, I hooked up my Darblet so I can capture shots and footage, showing it off.
Today's feature will be Drive.
When the shot says "Darbee 0%," that means it is a shot without any processing. When it says "Darbee 50%," that is the kind of shot that I apply on my screen. It is subtle, but great. You can go heavier or lighter to your liking.

6) A | B
I'll capture video later.
This kind of thing will help when I start uploading more gameplay footage of The Show.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
This is an incredible piece of equipment.
So you can see that it's set at 50% right now, which I found to be the best "amount" between what my TV can and can't handle. Going higher might make things look more artificial if your TV doesn't have an unrealistically high contrast ratio to handle all of the different colors. The general rule of thumb is: the bigger your screen, the more calibrated your set, and the clearer your image, the more you can maximize the Darbee effect. I like 50% as a "set it and forget it" default (keep in mind it actually goes up to 120%).
Here is an example of Tony Stark in his IM suit from The Avengers, with different settings and such (have multiple tabs open and just flip through them).
Normal - 0%
HD - 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%
Gaming - 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%
Actually, I might go as low as 25% if a film has a lot of grain or is just not getting anything out of it (a DVD, for example). Then again, if I'm playing a video game, watching an animated film, or I have 3D content on, I might go upwards to 75%. I might even use Gaming mode.
Here's that video of The Show that I promised you. I bring it up to 75% and show HD (green) and Gaming (yellow). Pay attention to everything on the screen, from the grass blades to the fans in the stands to the text font. Sorry that I didn't really put any balls in play; the controller was just laying on my bed as I pressed X haha.
Normal - 0%
HD - 75%

Now I have to work on "calibrating" my HD-PVR, because the images show some very notable deficiencies.
I don't know if I should dare post this in the MLB The Show forum. I think Darbees will run out of stock.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
Blzer, what size plasma do you have and how many HDMI inputs?
Mine is a 51" and I have 2 HDMI inputs. I'm assuming my HDMI from my Blu-ray player would plug into the Darbee, and another would go from the Darbee to the TV?Comment

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
HDMI switches are relatively cheap. Anywhere from $10 to $60...depending on how what you go with.Comment

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
From what you accurately described, you also would only need one HDMI input on your TV. It passes through with an HDMI-in and -out before going into the TV. In other words, it's a part of your chain. So, with HDMI cables in between, it would look like:
BD player --> Darbee --> HDTV
I think that's how you envisioned it, yes?Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
I have four HDMI inputs on my 59" plasma. I only use one (everything goes into my receiver, then comes out as one cable).

Darbees are amazing. I bring one on all.of my calibration trips. Most of the time people are on the net looking for one by the time I'm done.

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
PhilliesFan, to help you out maybe, I'll show you how I'm set up. You won't need any of the extra stuff I have unless you intend to have the Hauppauge HD-PVR 2 and record from your PS3.
