Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
I am going to buy a new television here very soon for my living room. I have some questions and comments for anyone that could help me out and give me a good tv that fits what I am looking for. My budget is anything under $900.
1. What`s the difference between LCD, LED, and Plamsa?
2. I will game on this tv in my living room, so will that make a difference on what television i should buy?
3. I mostly just watch sports and not a ton of movies.
4. My living room does not have a ton of natural light going through it.
5. I probably don`t want to go any larger than 55" because of the way my living room is set up. I would like to find something anywhere in between at 47"-55"
Thanks for any help and information.Comment

2. Plasma is better for gaming in my opinion just because of the minimal input lag they have.
3. Again, plasma for sports.
4. If its minimal, you should be okay. As long as there's not a ton of direct light or windows.
5. Check out the 55ut50 Panasonic. If you want a little better picture, the 55st50 is 1199.99$ right now, which is a pretty solid deal and a better tv.Comment

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
I use game mode when I play games was wondering is it ok to adjust things like color, brightness, contrast, backlight etc or just leave it on default game mode? It has all the processing features off like trumotion, auto color and auto contrast. Afraid to adjust things in game mode if it is going to have a negative effect. Thanks."If you don't have anything good to say, say it often"- Ed the sockComment

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
I am thinking of recommending my parents this TV - http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Samsung+...fxza&cp=1&lp=1
They are upgrading from a 7 year old 720p 50" DLP. I have always been a fan of plasma so I am being biased on picking this. $1,000 is around what they wanna pay. Lighting in the room is decent, 3 big windows will be behind the screen, but always have the blinds down and it leads out to a covered patio.Comment

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
1. LCD and LED are the same panel, both liquid crystal. LED just used a better type of lighting. Plasma uses a more complex system. Plasmas are using phosphors along with a couple other reactions to light the screen. Plasma will have deeper blacks, and wider viewing angles. With plasma, you won't want a lot of light. LCD panels will be better in a bright room.

Gamec0ck I need your official recommendation. $1,000-$1,200 price range. For parents who are upgrading from a 6 year old 720p DLP that has had the same bulb for 2 years. 50"-60". Decent lighting situation. Blinds keep the light in check, any windows are behind it and under a patio. Needs decent angle viewing because the end of their sectional sits about 6' away at a 45ish degree angle (anything will be better then what the DLP offers though). Preferably able to purchase from a store.Comment
