Jumped on the $299 Yamaha RX-V673 Amazon deal. Had a gift card I didn't know about so it took away tax. Plus 5% cash back with Discover. Also remembered I have $300 in reward Visa's I can cash in so it was basically free.

Have an offer from AcousticSoundDesign.com for $899 shipped on the Bic PL-76 system with PL-200. Want to jump on it, but I am leaning more towards getting whatever it is I get from a brick and mortar store so if I do not like it I do not have to pay return shipping (which I imagine would be $100+).

If you have an ipad as well, there's a free yamaha ipad app that you can use as a "remote control" to control your new yamaha RX-V673 receiver.

        Acoustic Sound Design return policy

There's also a 15% restocking fee for non-defective products (If $899 price tag, $135 restocking fee). I would get a clarification from them (in writing)

"Any merchandise returned that is not defective will incur a 15% re-stocking charge. Any item returned missing original items will be charged a 15% re-stocking fee. (this includes original MFR carton)"

I actually have a chat transcript saying it's a full refund. I'll have to double check. Thanks for pointing it out!

I would do your research on Bic before you buy. AVS is a good place to go. Last time I was over there and saw Bic, it wasn't a recommended product.

Just the speakers? I thought both you and GC recommended the Bic sub.

I have never heard them nor really researched them. I talked about REL, which is out of your price range...

The Acoustech subwoofer is a good < $300 item for movies, but not for music. Once you go over $300 though, you can find better. I got mine for $269 a couple of years ago.

It could be, but I'm still going to be researching other receivers in general. I still have to sell my 5.1 HK system too.

I'm hoping it's in good condition for you considering it's used. I mean it works just fine, but I know how people are about used things (and it's traveled back and forth from SF to SD a few times).

I'll keep you updated. I'm seeing if there are any receivers being sold cheaper today in general.

If my recollection serves me well, BIC are only okay on AVSForum, but Ascend Acoustics are a fairly recommended direct internet brand over on AVS. When I was researching on Bowers and Wilkins (middle/higher end), there were people comparing Ascend Acoustics and Salk Towers (another internet brand) to the Bower Wilkins CM9 series and other higher end speakers.

Best recommendation is to continue to do your research and ask questions. Do not impulsively buy. I have been looking at speakers for over 2 years and still have yet to decide, but 95% heavily swayed in the direction of Bowers & Wilkins CM9 or possibly the CM10. Check the return policies on any internet brand.

I listened to the Klipsch that are half off while at Best Buy today. Going to BWW to think about it. I liked em so I think I just need to get over specs and trust my ears (which are larger than normal). Not a fan of the Klipsch sub though at the price point.

                          BWW?

What didn't you like about the sub? Not enough punch?

Buffalo Wild Wings. In the sound room it was ok, but it had a price of $450.

                            *Edit*
After a few hours and another trip to best buy I purchased the two 8" towers and the pair of bookshelves. I didn't go for the center speaker or the sub. For $250, $450, and not on sale I assumed there is better or just as good for less. If not I can pick it up in a couple days. My receiver won't be here until Monday anyways.

                            *Edit #2*
The Klipsch center dropped to half off in the middle of the night. Went ahead and got it too. Best buy is also doing a $10 future savings code for every $100 you spend online and do an in store pick up (up to $50 per transaction).

I realized that I might have to make custom stands if I keep the bookshelves and use them as rears. Which shouldn't be too hard and a fun project. Might try to haggle BB into selling me the actual rears for half price so I could put them on the wall.

If you would've bought the rears with the towers and center you would've gotten them for free....
