Okay thanks I had my previous pvr box set at 1080i but the new one was set on 720p when I turned it on. Just making sure I have the proper setting. Thanks again.

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread

So I went ahead and double checked my PS4 video settings and yes I am running full RGB. I then went ahead and re-calibrated my monitor since it is new and will experience quit a bit of calibration drifting in the break in period.

I noticed 3 areas of drift. Sharpness, contrast, and gamma. Black levels remained mostly the same, it only needed a click or two to fine tune. Gamma on the other hand drifted a good bit from 2.2 and ended up in the 1.6 range. I made some adjustments to get gamma back at 2.2. Sharpness was the same thing, it originally needed a setting of 80 to hold a blended frame, yet now 80 just pops off the screen and had to be further lowered to 60 to achieve a blended frame.

Contrast was off slightly but not bad. It needed to be lowered slightly to achieve better white detail but all in all it was a very slight change from day one calibration.

I've had the monitor going on 20+ days and some calibration drift is to be expected so I think every 3 to 4 weeks I will re-calibrate until it starts to settle in from the break in period.

All in all still extremely pleased with the monitor. I will attempt to take some HD photos instead of the crappy iphone camera.

I can tell you that you made the black levels on your set are the best around right now even better then the zt60

Color is also good but my issue with the set which puts it behind the zt60 or vt60 and the F8500 is that it produces blooming in sections where the screen should be pitch dark along with having weaker then plasma viewing angles.

And the damm price is crazy high but the tv is sweet and very nice looking

Nice....In regards to running FULL RGB on the PS4 you can do limited on it as well for the monitor since all these monitors now come with tv like black level slider for dark or normal. So if you put it on Dark and put limited on the PS4 it would produce proper black levels

I will agree on the weaker viewing angles. Blooming is a term that is thrown around quite often. The truth is, there will never be a full array TV without blooming unless it has a ridiculous amount of zones. Also, gaming wise, this TV ran a 20ms response time when put through the test. I'm optimistic this TV will be perfect for what I need. Plus, 50% off is never a bad thing

Hmm...I'm debating whether or not to buy a McIntosh 5 channel amp. I'm so tempted to pull the trigger. Anyone ever seen or heard a system ran by McIntosh?

If the seller has a good return policy (either free return shipping or minimal cost), why not audition it? If not worth the price of investment, send it back...

At worst, you lose the time it takes to ship back and return shipping costs.

You cannot return any McIntosh product. If you sell McIntosh and accept a return, you will lose your authorized selling title. McIntosh won't ship their products through authorized sellers. I know they're worth the investment, but I think I'm going to go with a Rotel instead.

So you can't return it unless there is a defect?

Correct. I ordered the Rotel. For me it's $1999 instead of the $4300 mcintosh. I've heard Rotel amps are better for home theater systems, where mcintosh amps are for music listeners. It makes sense because mcintosh uses tubes and has a warmer sound for music, where the Rotel amp is more for power and sharp clarity.

I will post some pictures of my room and new tv when the tv arrives. I won't have the Rotel for about 1 or 2 months. Very special order product.
