Thank you! I spent a bit of time last night looking and could not locate these. You'd think they'd make it easier to find.

Someone on here said not to lie it down flat though...I'm not going to be able to transport it without laying it flat, anyone know if that's a major no-no or what?

EDIT: Here is what Best Buys site says: Larger LCD and LED TVs are constructed to have their weight balanced when set upright. So if you lay the screen flat, there won't be adequate support in the middle, which can lead to cracking or distortion on the edges if left that way over time. Add in the vibrations while driving a car, and the chance of cracking or distortion only increases.

I'm about a 20 minute drive via interstate home from Costco so I dunno, that could be a gamble. May have to actually consider having it delivered and waiting *ugh*...

I can't seem to find anything online that gives a clear and concrete answer as to the difference but according to Samsung themselves the Costco models may contain refurbished internal parts unlike the 8000 series sold at locations like Best Buy etc. First, does this sound even close to being a possibility? Are Costco TV's, at least Samsung, slightly stripped down versions of the mainstream versions sold at Best Buy, Amazon etc? Here are direct links to both if anyone can figure out if there is a major difference or not, saving $300+ would be ideal but not at the detriment of quality.

At local video stores the Samsung UN55KS8000 is selling for $1,500. At Costco, there's is a Samsung UN55KS800D selling for $1,480 with panel code FA01. Are these sets identical specs and components and appearance? If not, how do they differ? Any criticisms of the FA01 panel ? (Forgot to...

Sounds like it's the same. Making it KS800d exclusively for Costco prevents price matching.

It's not ideal, but as far as damaging the TV, you'll be okay just as long as you don't drive over any potholes.

Ok, would it help to put a bunch of pillows and blankets down then? And if I get the tv home and anythings wrong with it I guess I could just head right back to Costco and exchange it right?

That's what I was saying earlier odogg. About what Best buy says about driving with the tv in the car.

That was my first thought until I read the following comment from someone on an article I was reading that compared Costco models vs Best Buy models...

I spoke to Samsung tech support today regarding the difference between the un65ks9000 and the un65ks900D (Costco version). They told me and I quote, “the Costco Samsung TVs have the exact same hardware and circuitry as the non-Costco models however those internal components can be refurbished!” They also stated that Samsung isn’t the provider for the refurbishment but it’s performed by an authorized service station.

I can’t believe that Costco can technically and legally sell these TVs as brand new. It’s crazy but I’m not risking it and will likely buy it at Crutchfield which is only $20 more. I’m very interested to hear others feedback on this… Bestbuy told me the same thing about Costco.

Thats awesome man....I was also SUPER close to pulling the trigger on the 70in M-series....The size was enticing me....Now you got my thinkin' if the 5 inches may add even more immersion. At Costco, the price of the 70 inch M is only a few bucks more than the 65 inch P....So it was a big debate point as well....

Great to hear that your enjoying your M! I feel like Vizio is really steppin' up their game and tryin' to really innovate. I guess their next step is to make a paper thin unit....But I will stick for now with the 'tank' built kind! LOL!

How's your 360 look on the M? I'm lookin' forward to hookin up the ole' 360 and puttin' in some time with All Pro Football 2k8!!
I actually got the 55 incher...my TV room is pretty small aside from the price consideration, so any bigger than 55 inches and I would've needed to get a new stand and reconfigure the room.

The 360 gaming looks good (I play NCAA '14 exclusively on it), and much better than on my previous set where I'd take capture card pics and the pics would be dramatically better than the live image on the TV. lol

Yeah, I think to crack a TV, you'd need to really try at it. It comes encased in a cardboard box that is lined with styrofoam around the edges (at least). I have a really hard time believing the structural integrity of the TV would be ruined after laying the box on its side for 30 min. Also, remember these Vizios are like 3 inches thick...a tank. To be honest, you probably wouldn't want to own a set that was weak enough to break in the middle anyway, so the trek home could be a good test of its character. Not to mention the return policy if something weird happened. If you get it delivered, there's no guarantee the TV would be shipped with the same respect you'd give it anyway, right?

I don't think the pillows and blankets would hurt; keeping the unit from banging into the side walls of your car as you corner is probably a good thought, but this thing is no faberge egg lol.

This is all what I'm thinking as well. I would think as long as I drive reasonably, don't hit any potholes that are huge and keep it stable in the back on a nice comforter with pillows on the sides it will be ok. And if not, then I'll take it back to Costco and get another one that same day. Not my fault if it's cracked right? I'm not going to open it at the store so I wouldn't even know if my doing did anything to it or not tbh.

I typically have stuff delivered but these TVs are like a big chore to get delivered from what I've read, especially Costco. The one complaint I read in the reviews of the TV is the shipping company is awful, they took too long (near 10 days in most cases), offer no tracking and then when you finally got the tv there was no guarantee it would not be messed up and you'd have to go through it all over again.

All major stores get a model specific to their store. That Costco model is their equivalent to the 8000. Nothing refurbished about it..

So I was going to buy Star Trek Into Darkness on 4K UHD since it's on sale for $19 at Amazon and Best Buy but then I remembered I won't have Scorpio until like November or whenever..so I actually have no way to play physical 4K discs...

I notice it comes with a "Digital copy" which I think, if my research is right, uses Ultraviolet and that goes through VUDU<?>

My question, if I bought this movie would I be able to watch it in 4K using this Digital HD version code? Or is the digital code just for 1080p? And if so, how? Through the VUDU app?

Note: I own both PS4 Pro and Xbox One

Hey ODOGG I have done this several times in a small hatchback and never had any issues with any Tvs I bought. I transported a Vizio 70 inch before I didn't think it would fit, in fact on that tv the back door barely wouldn't shut but I lived 10 mins down the road from best buy. I also brought home a 60" sharp 4k last year the same way never had any issues with laying the Tvs down. I think if you put pillows and a comforter/blanket giving it a little support you will be fine. Like mention if you were driving a few hrs or leaving it laying down for awhile then it could be a risk.

I always half to lay these type of tvs down anyways usually in the living room floor to put the stand on them using the box as a little support until I screw the stand on then I set it up straight, so I dont see it being any problem.

I usually don't either but if I suppose I could always just try it and see. Worst case is I just have to wait until the end of the year to actually use the physical disc.

Ok, thanks, yeah I am going to try it. I'll get a couple of comforters and put it down in my SUV and put pillows on each side of the tv to keep it from moving any and then I'll drive like I'm an old lady the 10 miles home, LOL
