Just to clarify, you want the 55" H8C not the 50", there is a difference in quality and the 55" H8C was only $549 last I checked at Best Buy.

The thing is though, that is $200 toward a new Samsung TV. They want you to get a Samsung phone and then use a $200 gift card from Samsung (although it is a Best Buy card it's Samsung who is doing the promotion) to get yourself a new Samsung TV.

I know about this because I was going to do it as well but honestly I wanted to wait to get an iPhone although that Samsung Edge did look really good.

I may be wrong on this as what I was looking at was about a month ago but do check to make sure!

Saw this one on the site as well. Never had a Sony TV. Thoughts?

The Sony X700D is a 4k LED TV, with slightly above average picture quality. It isn't good in a dark room due to the low native contrast ratio. On the upside, it ...

The only thing I don't like about it from reading that is there is no wide color gamut but I don't think the H8C has any either. That wide color gamut will give you better color (redder reds, bluer blues, etc).

But to summarize, yeah this looks like a pretty good budget TV IMO. It really depends upon if you can find it for a good price on sale versus the H8C and rtings.com also recommends the Samsung KU6300 but I did check and it's like $100 more so it's more expensive.

Well it looks like the SONY 900E is the real deal. Got an excellent review from rtings just now. I'm pretty much sold on the 65" after the wife said we should go with the 65".

          Man I love my wife....

The Sony X900E is a great 4k TV that offers some of the best picture quality found in an LED TV. HDR content looks particularly good on this TV since it gets very bright, and it handles motion exceptionally well. Its only real downside is the degradation of the image when viewed at an angle.

          Conclusion

          8.2: Mixed Usage
Great TV for mixed usage. Picture quality, Input lag and motion all perform very well, almost everyone will have a great experience with this TV.

          8.4: Movies
Very good movie performance. Deep and uniform blacks aided by the good local dimming give an excellent picture in a dark environment.

          7.7: TV Shows
Good TV show performance. The X900E gets quite bright and doesn't reflect light much. It remains enjoyable both day and night.

          7.9: Sports
Great TV for sports. The colors are uniform so there won't be blotchy fields, and motion is very smooth.

          8.5: Video Games
Terrific for video games. The TV is responsive and has very fluid motion. Gamers will be very pleased with the X900E.

          8.4: HDR Movies
HDR movies look great on the X900E. The TV gets quite bright and can display saturated colors. Blacks are nice and deep as well.

          8.5: HDR Gaming
Excellent HDR Gaming performance. The TV remains responsive even with HDR games, and the picture quality is equally good.

          8.0: PC Monitor
Good PC monitor. Mouse movement isn't delayed much and motion is handled well but the picture deteriorates at an angle causing the edges to darken when sitting close.

Is a 4K HDMI cable necessary for a 4K TV or can a regular cable be used? Was browsing at Best Buy earlier and the rep was trying to sell me on those $150-$200 HDMI cables. No chance.

Ok. I think right now I am going to hold off on a new TV but still get the Pro. Good to know for future reference though. Thanks.

Congrats Joe! Oddly enough I was just reading this review today and immediately wondered if anyone in this thread would be picking it up lol.

Lemme know how you like it, I have my TV purchase narrowed down to the LG B6, the Samsung KS8500 or the Vizio P Series...But after reading the review the Sony shoved itself into the conversation.
