    For the guys who game on the LG OLEDs, is image retention an issue? I'm worried sports games with their score bugs could pose a problem.

    Any other feedback would be helpful as well. I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on a 65" B6.

      Does Costco ever have good TV deals? I thought they did, but the prices online are pretty bad even signed in as a member.

        Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread

        @All -

        Well fellas....I had to do it....returned my 65in Vizio P series (Costco)....so I'm back in the research mode to find a new 4k candidate for my man-cave....

        Long story short....I LOVED the picture quality of the Vizio P! Inky blacks (for a non-OLED unit), motion handling was phenomenal, wi-fi connectivity (not hard-wired) was on point (no drop-outs & consistently playing 4K material with ease....HDR10 and Dolby Vision looked PHENOMENAL using Netflix....Awesome to have BOTH technologies as options! I actually grew to like the casting feature/tablet remote....

        So your wondering....why return it....simple answer: FIRMWARE updates! Arggghhhh...sort of like NBA 2K17 patches! LOL!

        Before the most recent firmware update, I was in 4k nirvana! Then once the firmware hit....and even after factory reset....all hell broke loose! LOL! Picture mode settings wouldn't stick after I had calibrated....Certain buttons were greyed out in the Netflix App that had not been before which affected functionality....Dolby Vision PQ in the Netflix app looked 'off' for some reason....I also noticed that Picture settings although untouched seemed 'off' as well....And to top it all off....in the Netflix app....when it would adjust resolution, half of the screen would flash pink and the other half would be black (hard to explain without video - but other AVS forum members noted it) for a split second....definitely did not happen before firmware....

        Of course, I could wait (and hope) that these issues would be addressed....But that is a risk I was not willing to take and I had 4 days left on the 90 day return policy.....So decided it had to go back....TOUGH DECISION! And even now....I wonder if I should re-purchase (which would renew the 90 days) and see if the next firmware will take care of things....But the other side of me doesn't want to take the risk with future updates that may make the unit go haywire!

        So now....back to the drawing board....But starting the new theater build....120 inch projector setup....I'm back!!!!!

        Now for my question.....Should I jump on the OLED bandwagon? 55 inch version that is?

            LG 65UJ6540

            It's a Sam's model. What is the normal model of this?

            Parents bought it for $900. Did they get a decent deal? Does it has true HDR?

              Doesn't do true HDR. Updated model of 6150 probably.

                  They had an incredible deal when I went to buy my television. They had the Vizio P65-c1 which was normally about $2199 at the time for $1549. Unfortunately the store I went to didn't have them in stock so I ended up buying the Samsung 65KS850D.

                  So yes they do have really awesome deals at times.

                  EDIT: After reading PhiPsi1's post right after yours I'm glad now I didn't end up getting the Vizio P65-C1, LOL

                    @ODogg -

                    Nah man...It was my impatience with Firmware updates that got me to that decision....The PQ is phenomenal! I believe Vizio's CTO (who is SUPER active on AVS forum) will address the issues, but I feel like as time goes by...the companies will bring out more advancements and stability to the HDR and Dolby Vision technology...and...freakin' OLED keeps tappin' me on the shoulder... LOL!

                      After owning an OLED for almost two weeks, and after dialing in my settings, I don't think I could ever go back to another type of panel. Movies, gaming, sports....It's like nothing I've ever seen. Is it perfect? No TV is and to expect that from OLED is silly. But it's nothing short of stunning, especially with 4K content.

                        Thanks for chiming in with your OLED experience....My only concern with the LG OLED are the motion/judder issues mentioned in the AVS & Blu-ray.com forum....Have you had any issues with motion handling?

                        But man....the inky, inky blacks that these OLEDs are capable are a sight to behold....I didn't realize till my experience with the Vizio P, how much this matters to me when it comes to PQ....My eyes were so accustomed to LED edgelit tech, that when I tried out the P series (full array backlighting) that the blacks were phenomenal making it even look 3d, that I finally realized what I had been missing! Then with OLED....takes it a step further!

                          If motion is that much of a factor for you, you can always get the C7, this year's model. It does 24p judder-free over 60i and 60p, where the 2016's don't. But to be honest with you, I almost never notice any motion issues. And live sports and video games look amazing. I highly recommend getting a 2016 OLED from LG, it will be cheaper than a 2017.

                          Again, no tv, OLED or otherwise is perfect. But if you can justify the price of admission of an OLED, you'll never look back.

                            I believe the judder/motion blur issues people talk about on AVS forums is for the B6 model not the C6. My next move is definitely OLED..

                              The B6 has the "most" motion issues (really splitting hairs here, IMO motion issues are far more jarring on non-OLEDs) as it doesn't do judder-free 24p via 60i or 60p. I have the E6 and it does judder free on everything but 60p, same as the C6. I'll tell you now, I can't notice judder when watching over Chromecast or watching a Blu-ray on my PS4 Pro, which is when 60p applies. For those that notice it, the guys and gals on the AVS Forums have found that putting the Motion settings on Custom and setting the Dejudder slider to 1 or 2 emliminates almost every problem.

                              Me? I watch Blu-ray movies on my PS4 Pro without any interpolation assistance and probably because the picture quality is that jaw-dropping, don't notice any judder.

                              YMMV
