Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
For me I put the local dimming feature to the weakest option and some other settings a bit down because sometimes really bright things actually hurt my eyes, like if I'm looking at a virtual sunrise, I don't really want to squint and look away and see retna burn-in lol ... For me HDR I've come to realize is more useful for having shadow detail while in the same frame that something bright is properly exposed. Not so much for punishing my eyes haha.
It's a great TV though, I don't have any complaints.Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

Got it out in time for the Super Bowl. Man I forgot how much an amazing 1080p plasma set still owns a middle of the road 4K TV lolComment

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.Comment

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
I have a 50" 1080p Panasonic plasma from 2011 still...this TV still has a great picture that rivals my friends' 4k TVs and mine is 8 years older.

Depends on what TV. I was in the same boat as you had a 60” plasma viera. My new Xbr900f blows it away!

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
I really wish glasses-free 3D became a thing long before 8K is even talked about. Just watched Ready Player One in 3D and man I forgot how good 3D can be. The depth is just so cool. It's not about having stuff pop out at you. I know it will never comeback if glasses are required.Comment

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
It blows away my little crappy Hisense H8C which really isn't bad. I don't doubt the high end 4K with great HDR will be better.Comment

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
I wonder what 8k source material looks like. 4k with the right background can make it look somewhat 3d with the details and contrast. The depth is good, so maybe they can figure it out for 8k by the time they actually have 8k material.

LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
This is very true. I had a Panasonic plasma and loved it, but it doesn’t even come close to the picture quality of my OLED. It’s night and day. Some of the cheaper LED 4K TVs don’t have good blacks among other things. It depends on the tv you get.

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
I just wanted to report in that after a month or so my Vizio P is still amazing.
The blacks are so deep and the HDR for games and movies is stunning.
If you are looking for something mid-range less than 1K then you should really give this TV a look. I know the TCL 6 is a really good TV but you don't have to worry about a bad panel I don't think with this TV and the 120hz is a nice bonus. I was watching Hockey the other day and it was flawless. Not blur or judder.
There was never a time I couldn't see the puck moving in the right place if that makes sense.
So yeah. good TVComment

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
I need a 65" TV for the bedroom. Big room currently have a 50 in there and it is tiny. BB currently has the 4 series TCL for $520. How much better are the 5 and 6 series sets? Tight budget at this point so money matters. How disappointed will I be with the 4 series TCL and is there a better under $600 option in a 65"?Comment

No true HDR, no Dolby Vision.
