Well at first but inside of 4 years of being released it will be finely tuned and much more affordable. I game on a monitor so am not desperate.

Not directly tied to TVs, but bose is closing down all 119 stores in the US. This throws a wrench in my plans as I was going to upgrade my sound system this summer/fall when I buy my new TV. I wonder if they will have some kind of sale to clear out inventory.

Are they shutting down completely or just going to online only?

Every time I've bought a Bose product in the past they have held up incredibly well and never gave me any problems.

I see, it's just for around the same price, you could get an actual surround sound option.

It is awful as you can literally see the screen dim when it goes to a bright scene. It also happens in SDR FYI

I was watching ESPN first take and it dimmed big time right before my eyes.

I cant wait for Micro LED

I’m good with my C9. I love it. I don’t notice it ever during day games in mlb the show only in night games and it doesn’t bother me that much. I still think even with ABL it blows the picture of ANY led tv. I’ve never noticed it with SDR content and I’ve watched a ton of SDR context on this tv. I don’t have my oled backlight too high in the first place. I’ve only noticed it with night games in madden and mlb the show. I’ve never noticed it with COD or any other games. Still an awesome gaming tv in my opinion and I’d recommend it to anyone who wants to see these consoles at their best.

Not only that but Bose is so overrated and like you said for the price you spend on Bose you can get an actual surround system that blow any Bose system away.

The C9 has worst ABL then the cheaper B9

In my case it was. The moment I lowered the logo settings the ABL kicked in a lot less. If you read the settings it’s self explanatory. It lowers the brightness to prevent any potential burn in.

This is what is so damn frustrating. Why only these specific games? I had the same problem. Like you said, COD is fine, God of War fine, Red Dead 2 beautiful...Madden 20 HDR enabled even during the day games does it a bit and forget about the night games.

                        Wish this could be fixed

The LG C9 has good peak brightness with SDR content. Small highlights are brighter than on the C8 or B8, but this results in a more aggressive Automatic Brightness Limiter (ABL), which dims the screen significantly when larger areas of the screen get bright.

The C9 has a new Peak Brightness setting, which adjusts how the ABL performs. Setting this to 'Off' results in most scenes being displayed at around 303 cd/m², unless the entire screen is bright, in which case the luminosity drops to around 139 cd/m². Increasing this setting to 'Low', 'Med', or 'High' increases the peak brightness of small highlights. If ABL bothers you, setting the contrast to '80' and setting Peak Brightness to 'Off' essentially disables ABL, but the peak brightness is quite a bit lower (246-258 cd/m² in all scenes).

Unlike most TVs, the C9's peak brightness was measured with the pre-calibration settings, due to an oddity with the 100% window.

Are the cheaper-ish TV's getting better HDR yet? Like 2 1/2 years ago I got one of the TCLs for 650 or something, that had the best HDR I could afford vs. some of the cheaper sets that were 4k but not really good HDR....

Is this something improving on the sets you see for 400ish or not yet?

Always tempted to upgrade my bedroom tv, but not really looking to spend tons of money...always see the deals but I'm wary
