I did the same upgrade you did had the KS8000 which was awesome at the time but, This LG CX is such a great upgrade with PS5 and you can PC game on it too.

It looks like my trusty ol' VT60 plasma is on it's way out. It's getting wayyyy too hot and causing blotching on the screen. I'm going to try and preserve it with USB PC fans, but I think it's time to move on. I will try and keep it for the occasional 3D movie.

The logical step is OLED. I think I'd just get it at Best Buy and get their warranty that covers burn-in. Not too concerned, but I have a kid now so I can see a lot more static images happening. I'm considering LED as well. My options are pretty open. Going for a 65" under $2k with a middle stand, which I know limits my options.

I have little kids as well, so OLED worried me. I bought the Sony x90j at Best Buy two weeks ago for $1,399. They then dropped the price to its lowest at $1,199 but I was able to get a price match. So that fits your budget. It doesn’t have a middle stand, but I bought an echo gear stand from Amazon to remedy that.

To those with the C1 are you seeing black crush on the series x? On my ps5 brightness at 50 is perfect but on the Xbox it looks like it’s crushing blacks.

I'm not noticing it, but I haven't been looking for it. I will check next time I play. What game(s) are you seeing this in? Is this in HDR or Dolby Vision?

I assume you are in game optimizer mode. There are a couple of options for black levels in there. You might want to experiment with those to see if it helps.

I've noticed that sometimes with the C1 it doesn't automatically change to game optimizer when you turn on the Xbox or PS5. It happens very rarely, but does happen.

Maybe check to see that it is in fact in game optimizer mode.

Going back and forth on if I finally want to replace my plasma. It's starting to die as I mentioned earlier. I had to change the internal settings to force more power to the boards. I think I want to replace it as my main TV before it totally dies. Then keep it in a spare room.

Leaning towards the 65" C1. I've survived without burning in my plasma. I think my worst was one part the Modern Warfare/Warzone HUB was burned in on bright for 2-3 months after I finally moved to a monitor. My wife didn't notice it. That was playing like 3-4 hours a night 4x a week. I wouldn't want to spend extra on the Best Buy warranty over just going Costco and getting 5 years for free. At worst I will watch NFL Redzone/NFL the entire day on Sunday, but then other days the viewing is mixed.

QN90 is $100 less, but coming from a plasma the OLED is so much more appealing especially for sports. I'm on too concerned about room brightness as the plasma does just fine.

I wouldn't even worry about burn in anymore. If you're coming from a Plasma, you're gonna want an OLED.

Do I need to care about HDR10+ or is DV the only one that is really taken over these days?

Any BR players suggestions? Apparently my One X doesn't support DV for discs. I don't have many, but I don't need to handcuff the TV. Or maybe I should just rip them all and get a Nvidia Shield?

My AVR is outdated too. Going to run devices to the TV then try to use eARC/ARC. If not I'll suck it up with optical for a while.

If you are looking at disc players the Panasonic 4K (UB820 or UB9000) units are probably the best available right now, at least from a video/audiophile perspective. Upscaling regular Blu-rays to 4K is top notch and they have the HDR Optimizer function which works great for discs mastered higher than 1000nits as it tone maps the HDR to you displays capability so you don't lose highlight detail. Yes, your TV has tone mapping but I've found the Panny in combination with my Sony OLED does a phenomenal job.

I'm thinking either the UB820 (can get it open box for $350) or nothing. It doesn't seem like DV is insanely critical. Plus I only have a few 4K blu rays right now, not sure they all even have DV

Apparently there is a major build issue with new C1s. HDCP isn't handshaking correctly. LG is supposed to be releasing a firmware update to fix it in 2-3 weeks.

Weird you bring that up about HDCP. I've had my C1 for a couple months now, but with the recent firmware, I'm getting issues with it. Most of the time with my cable box, and it resolves itself after a few seconds, but I've had to restart the box a few times. Not a huge deal, but hopefully they fix it soon.

I don't have a 4K disc player, although it's in the pipeline, I'm disappointed the Xbox doesn't support DV from discs. I wonder if that's something they will add in the future?
