77" LG C4

If $2,199 is out of budget I'd post what your budget is.

I'm looking for a massive upgrade (77" and up) as well now that I have the PS5. $2,199 is well within my budget.

Would say the difference between LG C4 and B4 is vast when it comes to picture quality? I get to see them side by side in coming weeks.

Also want to get a look at the Sony A95L and the Samsung S90D

You posted this a long time ago but I've recently been pondering the same question. RTNGS has a comparison between the C and B series LG OLED.

I'm thinking of getting the B series to replace my 27" 60HZ monitor from like 2016. I don't need much, just something that can do 60 frames at a decent refresh rate and has HDR. I would mostly use it for my PS5 so pretty much anything would be an upgrade.

So I'm hoping to buy one of these soon. Right now they look about $400 cheaper for the LG B4 48".


My 65" TCL budget TV also recently died in my entertainment room. It made it about 6 years before the backlight went out. I'll try to find something cheaper to hang on the wall for it. What is funny is I have an old Toshiba Regza TV from around 2010-11 that gets used daily in my house and it's still kicking just fine with no issues.

Yeah, I always seemed to screw up the process in the past.

I buy specific products that are meant for the screen (which includes microfiber cloth), and through my years of learning to wash my car I seem to have become pretty efficient at it.

First things first, make sure the TV is at its absolute coolest. It hasn't been on for some time, and don't have it on for some time afterward.

Second, work small zones on the screen instead of seeing it as one whole. This keeps the focus minimalized so you don't rush or use too much of one side of your cloth.

Third, have at least two separate microfiber cloths, if not three. I like to use one for the initial dust removal, one for the spray product (not a required step and where most things can screw up), and one for drying/finishing off.

Have the cloth folded into quarters or eighths, and flip sides as often as you can to get a new side to show. Apply the lightest of pressure when removing dust, and work in linear motions in those cases (my favorite is outside border, flip, up-down motions, flip, left-right motions).

Always spray on the cloth itself, and not the screen itself. The goal is never to get the screen wet, but simply to apply product on it. Same thing with the cloth: dampen it, don't drench it. Slightly harder pressure can be applied to a dust-removed portion of the screen, and you may work in circular motions here if you wish. Immediately go to the drying cloth (with the same pressure and motions) after using the spray cloth.

Repeat this the rest of the way.

I have screwed up every which way in the past, normally resorting from using too much pressure, too much spray (or spraying the screen itself), the screen being too hot, or having too much dust on an area when cleaning. The key is that the spray portion is not required, and you have to make sure you're using right product. Do not use tap water (or alcohol). Water must be distilled, or a product designed for screen cleaning.

Honestly, the first go-around, I would just go without the spray. Use two cloths, one to remove dust and another to finish it off, and you should be good to go. In the near future you can consider spray if you think it's still needed.

All of this is open for critique if anybody recommends something else. I have not cleaned an OLED before.

From my experience with the LG C2, I am still impressed and giddy over its performance. I would jump at the chance at a C4.

I'm loving my C2 as well


We're leaning towards replacing our old LCD TV in our living room this holiday or next year around this time. I wasn't sure if I wanted to go OLED for our living room since it's a fairly bright room. I know the 77" C3 went on sale for around $1500 this past holiday season. So, I'm considering jumping at that type of deal next time around the holidays

I think most people would if money was not a factor or they didn't have a very restrictive budget. If someone is considering one vs the other, it's likely due to weighing the cost vs what they would use it for.

In this case, I think you could make a strong case for the B4 if you're primarily using it for console gaming and if you're not using it in very bright rooms.

If you have the budget then yeah swing for the better option.

I know for me personally it would be an introduction to OLED coming from a monitor that can only do 4K/60, no HDR, and 5ms response time. I got it back when the PS4 Pro first launched.

Also an easier sell for the wife

I ended up pulling the trigger on a 48" LG B4. I paid for an "excellent condition" open box TV from Best Buy. I picked it up and drove about an hour home.

After a few hours I finally got around to opening it and the TV was missing the legs and the remote. It had been factory reset and the only way to complete the process is with a remote. So I went back and double checked that I had read correctly and sure enough it says that the excellent condition comes with all of the original components or a comparable replacement.

I tried to call Best Buy and after 2 attempts I realized it's really hard to just call and speak with someone in the store so I got in the car and drove back. The customer service was really good. At first they offered me a remote and no legs and then I mentioned that I will eventually mount it so I can make that work but I did pay extra for the option that included all components. One of the employees decided to open box a new LG B4 and give me the components out of it. I don't know what that cost them but in my head they probably could have just given me the new one because the difference in cost vs what they would have to mark that one down had to be comparable but either way I was happy they decided to do that.

All in all, I learned a lesson that either don't buy open box or check before leaving that everything is there. I don't think anyone intentionally did anything wrong, the panel itself is in perfect condition. They just didn't check the box properly.


Anyways.. I got it set up last night. It's night and day difference from my 27" monitor. I haven't played on a TV in years. I may miss my monitor if they ever fix Battlefield again but for now I'm going to enjoy gaming on this TV. I turned on a FPS to see 120FPS and it was nice as well as some other games to see the HDR difference. I have mostly played games in performance mode and probably will continue to do that because I prefer the frame rate over graphics but I've never really had the option to take advantage of any graphic fidelity mode.

Some lessons learned but I try to look at everything as a first world problem because they are.. no reason to get angry at Best Buy about it. The employees in the store were super helpful even though the phone process is a pain in the ***.

From my work it's only about 30 minutes and I went during lunch. I could have went back the next day but I would have thought about it all day long and how the issue wasn't resolved so decided to drive back. I don't really pay for my gas anymore and I had a podcast to catch up on

Yeah I really didn't expect that. Originally they were only offering me the remote. I was going to refund the entire thing and just pay the difference and get the new one if that was all they could do and then the guy offered to "open box" the new one. I'll take it though.

What kind of TV do y’all recommend for a brighter room?


My living room isn't overly bright, but there is enough for noticeable glare on TV. The 77'+ OLED had good sales this past Holiday season. But, not sure if there's a better option for a living room

A bright room is tough. Bravia 9 is probably the choice though.

Our living room isn't overly bright. When we redo our living room, we're painting it a darker color and will have darker shades than we have now. So in theory, OLED is an option. Our daughter is old enough where I don't have to worry about her throwing stuff. Our current TV has to be about 15 or so years old.
