    Re: Getting rid of cable?

If you absolutely need to watch every single kentucky game in good quality you'll still need cable, IMO

I got rid of DirecTV last May and I have a mac mini hooked up to my HDTV. I use hulu, espn 3, netflix on it. I have an antenna for live TV. I love it, but the big compromise is sports.

The quality of ESPN3 is good overall, but at times it can be pretty grainy. Other streaming sites are hit or miss, I think. Also, you'll need to make sure your internet provider supports ESPN3. I know Time Warner doesn't

Its a matter or priorities, and if you really love Kentucky basketball, overall it will be much less of a hassle to just have cable. Get the bare minimum plan with ESPN, no DVR, and cut your costs elsewhere in your budget

I would miss my NFL Sunday Ticket package, otherwise I'd be able to do this. The ability to watch the Packers games (as well as any other game I want to watch on Sundays) is the only thing that holds me back from actually dropping DirecTV.

You have to have the TW/Bright House television service. Having them as an internet provider only does not get you ESPN3. Believe me, I know...

Well I think I'm gonna get rid of cable. Neflix and mlb.tv/ESPN3 will do the job.

                      Re: Getting rid of cable?

I've already got a plan to drop cable/satellite when we move in July. Since I watch football at my family's house because they've got Sunday Ticket, might as well cut off the cable. I'll be going with Netflix/Hulu for TV. I don't actually watch much sports, really, I just watch NFL/NCAAFB (and at that, it's just Jacksonville/VT and the playoffs).

We currently pay about $108 for cable/internet. That's split between myself and 2 roommates. Sure its only 36 per person. but that could be cut in half.

I've got an RCA multidirectional antenna that looks kind of like a flat square. It works well for me, but you should check some stuff here:

It can tell you what signals you get at the location, and it'll give a heads up on which antenna would be best.
