I'm looking into that Sezmi, but I get the feeling the 360 is going to be offering something similar soon. I need to find the specifics of what the 360 will be offering in terms of local TV.

I picked up U-Verse in mid-March for March Madness and the NBA playoffs in HD. Glad I did it, got the cheap starter deal for $44/mo. Now time to call and cancel.

I called on Tuesday and cut off DTV. It was like leaving a cult. They offered 2 free months, asked what they could do differently, even tried to make me feel guilty for cutting off "quality children's programming."

They even called me later in the day to verify for certain that I wanted to cancel. The guy was relentless and I almost felt like he was purposefully misunderstanding what I was saying so that he could justify not cancelling.

            Re: Getting rid of cable?

            Finally made the move today.

Been waiting for my sister (my wonderful roommate) to discover the wonders of watching movies and television with Netflix on Wii.

Looks like the slick move I made to install my account on her Wii months ago finally paid off.

She's been watching like crazy, as I discovered by looking through my instant stream activity which has probably tripled in activity since.

So I brought up the question of our cable which neither of us has used in over two weeks and she simply said: "Get rid of it."

Boom. Now I just gotta make sure she can watch Real Housewives. She said that's the only thing she wants to see whenever she wants. I think Hulu+ has episodes of Real Housewives on it.

Anyway, I'll gladly pay about $20 for Netflix and $10 for Hulu+ (including taxes) and drop $102 in cable services.

I don't know what I'll do with sports yet, but honestly, I haven't even watched my Yankees in a month. Been far too busy with other things. If not for ESPN Gamecast, I'd be a lost man.

I'd really love to get rid of cable, but I just can't considering all the sports I'd miss. That's the only drawback for me.

Sports, CBS, and The CW are the hold offs for me not going with Hulu.

They are an insidiuos company that hides behind clever marketing strategies. I could go on and on about their tactics that I've both heard and that I've been subjected to.

I'm extremely close to cutting, myself. I can put the $90 and increased bandwidth I'd be getting to good use. I'm hearing that indoor digital antennaes are pretty good too?

My friend used one of these in NYC and even got some cable channels. She had a great picture as well.

I might do that so I can watch games on the basic networks.

I don't currently have cable TV. I like it.

However, I might be moving away from Blacksburg, which is where my family has Sunday Ticket (so we can watch all games, most importantly Jaguars games).

So if I move, I'm buying Sunday Ticket Superfan. Huzzah.

I dont know how you would watch Hulu+ but in my experience I tried it through the PS3 & it would let me play the Real Housewives on it because of some legal issue. It says you can only watch it through your PC & is not allowed to stream to the TV. My wife likes those shows but when we couldn't stream it she was not happy about it. Hulu+ is more like Hulu-

                          Really? Well, that's no good.

Think it's the same issue with Wii? Can Hulu+ even stream on the Wii?

Damn, I checked online and saw Real Housewives on Hulu and just assumed it'd be good to go to stream on TV.

I'll talk to my sister about it. She's watched on her Mac before so I'm sure she'll adjust. Either way, she knows it makes no sense to spend $70 a month on Real Housewives.

...or I hope she does. Never know with women...

Hulu Plus has its limitations though, and one big one isn't obvious unless you try the devices out. Many shows are not available anywhere but on the web. That may seem bizarre, I know it was for me. Many of the shows you can watch with a Hulu Plus subscription on the web are just not available on streaming devices. After talking with a representative from Hulu, it's because their licensing with content providers specifically prohibits streaming to devices other than a web browser. Which, for those of us wanting to watch television on an actual television, sucks.

Yea, but I wanted to watch shows like Modern Family and It's Always Sunny on my HD television screen rather than my pathetic little laptop and I'm almost sure (unless someone can correct me) that if I plug my laptop into my HD screen, I'm only getting the picture quality of my laptop.

(And I'd have to plug in using VGA rather than HDMI...)

Just disappointing to hear. I can get by with it. I did it all of last Fall/Spring season. I just had high hopes for this fall.
