Plus, I'm not a college sports fan.

Cable will need to get on board and go the way of Amazon, Hulu, etc., meaning a la carte. Always wanted this and as cable cos. see more and more customers leave, they may be pushed to do this.
I'm kind of in the same boat.
We barely get any MLB off of Bell anyway, I'm not interested in the NFL and I've lost some love for the NHL over the past few years.
Now that I have kids, I would prefer watching them play their sports over any pro game any day of the week.
So that's where I satisfy my sports jones.

I have Netflix, Hulu+ and Amazon Prime (for the time being. Still deciding if I'll hold onto it). My cable bill is $50/month for internet. With Netlix and Hulu+ costing me $15 combined (Prime is free for this trial), I'm saving over $100/month on cable.

I've been able to watch every show I like and even have options to watch sports online.

Can't complain. Nothings changed but having a bit more cash in the pocket.
Can you record these programs? Can you record these programs in HD?

        Record what programs?

Netflix and Hulu+ already provide HD quality streaming for most of their television shows and movies so long as your internet provider can handle it.

I don't have to record anything they have because it'll almost always be there weeks or months later.

If you're talking about sports, I'm sure there's a way to record the stream from your computer. But, you're not gonna get TiVo-esque service. You're gonna have to set it up manually.

I have cablevision. We left for FIOS and FIOS got to about $140 a month for all 3.

        I didn't mind. I loved the service.

Cablevision kept calling and bothering, gave them a listen.

Now, for all 3, I pay $78.82. And, they payed to cancel the contract with Verizon.

I'm sure my internet speeds are not the 'best,' but it is fine for what I need it for.
They call me every now and then. They sent me a couple of flyers. They told me they would lower the price. I said to myself I don't care anymore.

Seriously haven't been affected by cutting it. They can't offer me anything I want because I already have it.

Wasn't even thinking. Considering I have Netflix I REALLY wasn't thinking.

I've wanted to do this but we only pay about $130 for both digital cable and roadrunner+ (TW). If I cut cable, I'd only save about $70/month. And that's not counting what I would have to start paying for Netflix, Hulu, etc.

Plus, I miss out on just about all my local sports aside from the NFL.

I can't make the numbers work.
In the beginning it was a move where my wife and I wanted to save about $60.00 a month. We are single income so that helps us. But we are now at a point where the value in it is that we watch better TV. We have maybe 4 shows that we both like and focus on. When we had cable we missed out on Mad Men, so now we are going through that.

What I have noticed is that we have more quality time with TV right now. It's almost like a discipline has been created to not turn the TV on unless we know what show we are after, which in turn gives us a lot of time to sit on the couch and talk about life stuff.
Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.
