I actually enjoy watching those 3 as they are usually funny and all have somewhat of a story that has been developing for so long.
I agree. Was never a big fan of Andy at all. It's like they decided to just use whatever character is closest to being Michael Scott, and make him the focus of the show.

I think they've run out of compelling storyline ideas and have just been relying on shock value and quick laughs to make up for the fact they never found a good way to move on from the Michael Scott era. Speaking of which, I hope he makes a cameo before the season ends. It would be nice to see even a brief check in of how Holly and him are doing.

The warehouse guy who chimed in about "Bryan" in the break room is hilarious though. I don't even know his name but he reminds me of what Creed brings to the show, just those random laughs that are made even funnier by his demeanor. I hope he keeps making these periodic appearances.
I am largely in agreement. I'm surprised replacing (Michael) Scott has been so unbelievably un-smooth in terms of plot and writing. There's absolutely no continuity in that regard as to who is in charge. It feels like eight different people have taken stabs at running the branch in the last 18 episodes and they've all been different levels of horrible. And surely, maybe that proves Prison Mike was irreplaceable but it shouldn't be at the expense of the show.

I'm surprised the show was so okay with trying to portray Andy as a Michael Gary Scott-like figure and his relationship as a Jim-Pam-like situation. I'm almost offended the writers figured it wouldn't be an issue if they just tried to replicate genuine scenarios from the Office with Andy and we'd care with him just as we did with the aforementioned Michael/Pam/Jim situations. There's actually still a lot to this show I care about, but Andy/Erin and Robert/Nellie are not things I prefer. It's unfortunate they take up so much of the show. It feels like a coach insisting Mario Chalmers be the focal point of an offense when Dwyane, Chris and Lebron are there in the background.

The above post was good but the entire time I was reading it I couldn't get past you referring to Michael as "Scott."

I know him only as Michael. Or Prison Mike.

Tonight's episode was a mess. I'm not sure I enjoyed anything beyond finding out Kevin's dog was actually alive. In interviews with Office actors and creators, I keep hearing the phrase "ensemble cast" being pushed extra hard this year. As such, I'm thinking it feels like they're trying to spread the previous major focus on Michael Scott evenly to the rest of the cast. What this has done for me is more or less destroy the show's focus altogether. In many episodes this year, I end up looking back and thinking, "What just happened and where is this going?"

I'm getting closer and closer to thinking an insane surprise permanent return of Michael Scott will be the only thing to right the ship. That, or deep and honest reflection from the writers regarding the season at hand.

I don't think Michael Scott will return.

I wish they would've brought Jan back and had her run the office. I really enjoyed her character. Andy's character just didn't fit the boss role. Spader's addition was a waste and the Nellie character is annoying.

Honestly, I think they should just pull the plug, as much as it pains me to say.

It's for the best. Go back and watch Season 2 and Season 3... this show is a shell of its former self.

Right now it is in that Favre-like "Tarnishing the Legacy" zone.

It was nice seeing David Wallace tonight, even if it was just for a minute.

Yeah, DW was awesome, especially when he went off the deep end after losing his job. Seriously, I would've brought either him or Jan in as the manager and I think the show would've been a lot stronger.

                    Andy as Michael-light isn't funny.

I think even a Michael Scott return wouldn't save the show because it's clear the writers and people behind the direction of the show have lost their touch or simply run out of compelling ideas. I keep holding out hope that the show will find a groove but with each passing week it looks increasingly less likely that it will happen. Unless they set up an interesting NEW premise with the season finale, I don't think I can bring myself to watch another season of this

I'm going to have to watch back through the older seasons as to not entirely taint my perception of the show.

Is agree. Some episodes have been funny, but a lot more cruddy ones. I can't stand Nellie or Robert California. Hopefully this is last season as much as I hate saying this.

I guess I'm in the minority because I still look forward to, and enjoy, the show. Yes I miss Michael Scott but I don't seem to hate Andy, Nellie or Robert California like most of you do.

I hope the show goes on as I'm enjoying it. For you folks who wish they would just kill it, just quit watching and pretend they did

Like I said I'm way behind, but i'm watching a lot of the older episodes. They would have been better off keeping the focus on Jim/Pam and Dwight imo. That way there's at least some continuity and a larger storyline that's been around.

I'll miss the show when it's over, but i'll miss it for Jim,Pam, Dwight, Michael, a few others that have been around. Not for Andy, Robert, Nellie, etc.

I'm with you there. If I tire of the show, I can just stop watching. I do not demand it be cancelled. I still don't like where they're at right now, but I hope it can somehow find its way once again.
