Labeled as good enough, Cobra Kai ended up as good enough once again: A fun nostalgic excursion with a quirky but fun modern storyline, leaving you wanting more!Comment

Re: What's good to watch on Netflix And Other Streaming Platforms
For anyone who likes Asian shows and movies, I recommend checking out viki.com (there is an app for it as well that you can get on any device that has the Google Play Store). They have a large library of Chinese and Korean shows & movies as well as content from other Asian countries. Some of the content is free with ads, and they have a premium subscription to get rid of the ads and access some currently airing shows.
A few shows that I'll recommend on there:
Descendants of the Sun (Korean) - Probably my favorite Korean show. The IMDB page just says this for summary "This drama tells of the love story that develops between a surgeon and a special forces officer.", but it's so much more than that. While the love story is forever present in the 20ish episode series, it's also just enhances the impact of the action, suspense and drama from various events that occur. (a few examples: a major earthquake that causes a building collapse, a drug lord who puts the "good guys" in some very intense situations, events that impact North/South Korean relations, and others....) All of the characters are likeable and the the acting is solid.
River Where the Moon Rises (Korean) - I'm about half way through watching this. This is a historical/period piece about a princess who becomes an assassin after certain events and later back to a princess and rebel leader. The story does slow to a crawl in the mid episodes, building up the characters. It's still interesting at this point, but it is a bit disappointing considering how action packed the first few episodes were. However, it does seem like it's about to ramp up again towards the end of the season as all events lead to the final confrontation.
Bring It On; Ghost (Korean) - Fun little dramedy. There are some really fun characters, great interactions between the 2 leads, and a bit of a supernatural/suspense backstory driving events.
The Long Ballad (Chinese) - This is based on a web novel called Chang Ge Xing (which is also excellent if you ever read it). The story follows a 7th century Chinese princess, Chang Ge, who is a bit of a tom boy. She's a martial arts expert and a brilliant strategist thanks to training from her uncle. That same uncle overthrows the king though, killing her family, and leaving her in exile. She then tries to form an army to take back the kingdom though. However, through her struggles she becomes acquainted with the daily struggles of commoners and some of her motivations evolve as the show progresses. The one major disappointment is how the male lead ends up overshadowing her in many instances. The beginning of the story sets Chang Ge up to be an exceptionally talented individual, but over the course of the series the male lead becomes more and more involved with rescuing her over and over. It was a bit crippling to the strong female lead that the show originally established (it's also antithetical to the web novel that the show is based on, because in that Chang Ge is the one saving everyone else). It reminds me a bit of Alchemy of Souls (Korean show currently airing on Netflix) in this way.Last edited by KSUowls; 09-17-2022, 04:39 PM.Comment

Started watching Dahmer on Netflix with the wife. Very disturbing but the actor who plays Dahmer does a great job and is very believable.
I've read online that a lot of people couldn't make it past the first episode, I will say it does put you in a very unsettling mood.

"The almost unwatchably queasy Netflix series spends too long in the grisly squalor of the serial killer's life. No wonder it's been buried ..."

I barely got through the trailer. I can watch most serial killer stuff but his story makes me sick.

I tried reading Mind Hunter by John Douglas and couldn't continue when the deeper detail of Ed Kemper's murders were described. Yikes! My wife has been mentioning Dahmer as a potential show to watch, I think I might kibosh this suggestion.Comment

The show is fantastic. They don’t show what Kemper did but amazing scenes with his character being interviewed.

watched all 3 episodes of Andor. This new show has potential. Currently I rank all the Star War shows:
1. Mandalorian
2. Obi Wan Kenobi
3. Andor
4. Book of Boba FettComment

No doubt, Mike. I remember this show probably 10-15 years ago about this crimal psychologist who came up with this scale that would rate all these serial killers and I believe Dahmer was number 1 on his list as most evil, over Ted Bundy and John Wayne Gacy

I watched that, too, it was literally called Most Evil, I'm annoyed with myself for being interested in it. Not sure I'll watch the Dahmer show, I kinda hope we transition away from "celebrating" serial killersWolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

Man House of the Dragon has been [emoji91] [emoji91] [emoji91].
The writing, the acting has been fantastic.
They don’t even have to swing a sword, the way that everyone is playing the game is so good.
