The Hunger Games (movie) - March 23rd

I know from the OS Book Club thread that there are some The Hunger Games fans here. I bought my tickets for opening day this afternoon. Who else is interested?

I'll see it, but I doubt it'll be opening night. I want to be wrong, but I have almost 0 hope for this to be good. Which is a shame because I thought the books were pretty entertaining.

Big fan of the books, and cautiously optimistic for the movie. Will probably go sometime during opening weekend.

Haven't gotten tickets yet, but I'll be there some point around release.

Really enjoyed the books, though I wasn't a big fan of how the last one ended, felt kinda flat to me.

I think the movie will be enjoyable, just have to remember that they can't include everything from a book. If you keep that in mind then you'll have a better shot at enjoying the movie and not getting annoyed.

My wife has read all 3 and I've read the first two. About to start the 3rd. Hope the movie is good. I saw the trailer before I started reading the books so Katniss and Haymitch both in my mind are how they look in the movie but Peeta....I just had in my mind he was a bigger guy.

It has broke Fandango's first day advance sales and is reportedly already sold out in many theaters.

I've been wanting to see it for awhile.

Optimistic about this as i like the books a lot and want this too be good. From everything it seems to be doing the right thing. I'll probably catch a matinee a week or two after on my day off.

I read the book a little while ago so I had my own mental images of all the characters before seeing the trailer and most were close except for Peeta, my image was just way off lol.

Don't know why, but I am getting a Disney vibe from the trailers and previews though the book material is anything but. Looks too brite. Can't explain it. We are talking post apocalyptic setting...maybe its just what I have seen.

My personal opinion is that this looks like a huge letdown but crossing my fingers it is not!

I'll probably go with my wife on opening weekend. She read the three books in 6 days and is real excited for the move. I didn't read the books though.

Must be. I read somewhere that a lot of the actors have been signed to four movies, including Woody Harrelson.

I'm excited because I haven't read the book and never will. My girlfriend is a reader and loved the book. She'll probably complain about how the movie wasn't as good as the book.

Oh well she'll be happy when I surprise her with tickets

I was looking into reading the books. I think I'll see this movie then read the book as I think the movie looks pretty interesting.

What is the basic concept of the book? I keep seeing Battle Royale being thrown out when talking about the movie.
