According to"Hunger Games Wiki", the quarter quells were predetermined (they had enough for hundreds of years) and put into envelopes at the founding of the games. There was suspicion that the 75th was changed due to the popularity of Katniss and Peeta.

Since that syncs up with my recollection of it, I think that's about right.

Josh Hutcherson does nothing for me as an actor. I've never read the books, nor plan to, and my understanding is that he physically doesn't represent that character, but it doesn't matter to me.... I don't see him bringing much to the screen.

I just saw THG yesterday on Netflix. Good movie.

As to Josh Hutcherson, I don't know how the role was defined in the book, but he seemed a bit lightweighted, especially next to J-LA.

Huh, I kind of liked the trailer. I didn't know Philip Seymour Hoffman was in the sequel.

Watched the movie last night and I thought it was alright. I went in expecting something sort of extreme like Battle Royale, so the actual games in the movie disappointed me a bit. Nevertheless, it was good enough to make me want to see the sequel. I was kind of surprised to see this up on Netflix.

Just finished watching this as well. I thought it was pretty good. I'll be checking out the sequel. Is it okay to read Catching Fire without having read the first book?

I'd say you should read the book. The last part of the first book, which ties into the beginning of the second book directly, is completely left out of the movie (I imagine it will probably be at the start of the second movie). The love angle plays out a bit differently in the book. They tried to hint at it in the movie, but it was way too subtle, imo. It's definitely a little different in the book though.

I thought the books were awesome, but since I read them I was disappointed in the movies.
