So I re-watched a couple of scenes and something else struck me as missing that was pretty important.
SpoilerWhen the Nights Watch was at the fists of the first man, the discovery of the dragon glass weapon cache and gives a dragon glass dagger to Sam never happened. Seems like that part has major implications later on in the story. I assume they could still have it happen another way I suppose.
That said, I enjoyed a lot of this episode not as much the stuff with Dany, but I know her story gets a lot better. Margery's scene with Littlefinger was a good one too. Bronn's quickly become my favorite sword. Jorah...I dunno. He's badass, but I don't think his story will turn out so well. As would what's his name, the old guy that used to run the Kingsguard that Joffery made leave in season 1. Forgot his name. He hasn't turned up yet...but I know he will. Too hyped up to not make a future appearance.Comment

Who else cheered when Brienne kicked major ***? I think I'm gonna like her serving Catelyn.
I'm really looking forward to Arya's storyline now. Her arc has been gaining momentum for the past two episodes.Comment

Ugh, many things about that episode that I REALLY didn't like. But I suppose I need to see what direction the writers are taking certain plots/storylines before I say to much.

I hated last night's episode as a book fan. The stupid "stolen dragons" with Dany (I guess they need to give her more screen time and filler?), rushing the Jon/Ygritte stuff and doing it in a totally re-written manner, still having a "Talisa from Volantis", and the Roose Bolton "oh hey, my son can free Winterfell" thing were just some of the stuff that drove me nuts.
Book spoilers:
SpoilerThe biggest thing though was Jon. It's so powerful in the books when they come across Rattleshirt and his gang and Qhorin whispers that Jon needs to turn and kill him, to get an "in" with the Wildlings. And then later the pressure by Tormund and others to bed Ygritte. Him chasing after her in the show, and then likely coming upon the Wildlings and later re-encountering Qhorin and having to kill him to save his life won't have the same impact.I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be. - Douglas Adams

They fell flat in other scenes.
The Riot
SpoilerNot having Cersi tell the Kingsgard to not touch Tyrion after he beat Joffrey (which included him kicking the boy king) is a error, as it seemed that even she acknowledges that Joffrey is a terrible king. It is also the last time that Cersi and Tyrion are on the same page.

SpoilerWTF, having the Dragons stolen? Not only did that never happen in the books it seems like such a stretch, given that she was "welcomed" into Qarth and was residing in the home of "the wealthiest man in Qarth". You would think there would be better security than that. Is she even going to make it into the house of the undying now?

SpoilerIt goes into the 3rd book, but him not just letting Ygritte go which lead to further character development in later chapters and the next book, seems like a miss to me. It also bugs me that in the earlier episode (5 I think), they didn't discover the dragon glass cache, which is HUGE for Samwell's character ealry in book 3.

SpoilerI would be lying if I didn't come out and say I was looking forward to Amory Lorche's "book death". Seeing his TV death left me quite upset. But they have not really included any of the secondary characters in Harrenhall. No Pia, Weese or any of the others. So this was not to be expected. The Littlefinger stuff was "cute" but seemed forced.
For those that haven't read the books then it is probably a case of no harm, no foul. But man that episode failed in so many regards in the book-to-screen translation in such a big way IMO. I have no idea where they are going with Dany and Jon next week. I guess one of the nice things is that in two weeks there is a huge battle coming, which probably took up a lot of the budget (I read they had to go to HBO and ask for more money) and it is written by GRRM, so regardless I will be looking forward to that episode. Despite my issues with this episode, I have to admit given all they changes they made I am looking forward to seeing how they get the story back on track if they do, so I am looking forward to next week a bit.Moderator

Haven't read ACOK so I'm just going to rehash the most repetitive thing you can say about this show...
THAT WAS TOO ****ING GOOD!
I thought Theon would have a battle with his conscience but it looks like he's committed to being a Greyjoy. His scene with Bran in the bed chamber was funny because it looked like Bran wasn't taking him seriously (and still didn't) until Rodrick got offed.
I'm beginning to like the Hound. Clearly, ole' Dog has a soft spot of some sort for Sansa.
Everything with Arya is just fantastic. Maise Williams deserves an award.
As for Jon, I'm interested in seeing what happens with him and Ygritte. She's a pretty wildling and it was hilarious to see him so uncomfortable with her grinding into him.
I can't believe we're six episodes in and just like season one, things are ramping up.
Oh yeah, since he showed up..... THE KING IN THE NORTH!Comment
