BTW, have any liquid cooler recommendations?

Are you using a fan cooler KSU?

My only issue is so many places are out of stock with stuff. Maybe I need to just wait and build one when Madden 21 comes out.

I use liquid cooling. Corsair hydro h100i

I know a lot of people will say that unless you are overclocking that liquid cooling isnt necessary. Probably true ,but it gives me some piece of mind on an expensive build. Also ryzen cpus tend to runa little hotter than intel.

Looks like a great build. You probably wont be able yo get that speed on the ram sticks without playing with the bios, but considering they are cheaper than the 3200 it obviously makes more sense that way.

Note on the 2080. I saw one benchmark video where where the asus offered 1-4 frames better than a similar evga for instance. Strix is great, but if you need to find some savings you can drop to another good brand without really losing much performance. Doesnt hurt getting best of the best at that price point though

I've also been slowly shopping around. I've thrown this together, centered around the form-factor of the case which I fell in love with. Looking to stay sub-$1000. Can anyone take a look over it and critique for me?

Looks solid. Obviously you wont be gaming at max settings, but this is plenty to cover any modern game.

Storage might be an issue if you dont have a second drive. 256 disappears quickly with modern games (which continue to get bigger), and thats before any other media/programs you may want. Probably about 25gb is going to be dedicated to windows. This is kind of an extreme example, but the new call of duty warzone is about 80gb. Easy enough to add a second storage down the road, but just keep that in mind.

Since I have one now i'll stick with liquid cooling since it's given me no problems at all.

Just wanted to make sure i wasn't looking at a cheap quality one.

Good choice on the storage. 500gb should give much more breathing room.

I love corsair products, but personally i would revert back to the g.skill since they are also a great brand for ram and they were $30 cheaper.
Edit - actually this one is a little harder to say. Both ram sticks are pretty fat, but i think the corsair are slightly smaller. Either may be fine to fit in your case, but it is something to look in to.

Also, i just noticed that you dont have any kind of cooling unit listed. Even if you dont go liquid (which you might not be able to fit into a mini tower anyway) you are still going to want at least an air cooler.

The partpicker does list a possible compatibility issue with the cpu and mobo. That goes beyond my knowledge base though.

Warning! Some AMD B450 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Matisse CPUs. Upgrading the BIOS may require a different CPU that is supported by older BIOS revisions.

Note:Some physical dimension restrictions cannot (yet) be automatically checked, such as cpu cooler / RAM clearance with modules using tall heat spreaders.
Its the reason I'm skipping a B450 motherboard altogether.

Although they said the new Ryzen Chips will be backward compatible, it calls for an update and they are sure to warn you about it.

You can look up compatible motherboards with that CPU or just get an X570 and future proof yourself.

The CPU comes with a cooler and the reviews say it's pretty good so I'll probably stick with that at first and see how things go.

Definitely need to look into the BIOS warning. Noticed it right away but haven't been able to dig around.

Intel announced their new lineup of CPUs today and in typical Intel fashion, a new motherboard is required as usual. But the high end, 10 cores. 5.3ghz boost clock.

                              I just read about that...

I'm gonna go ahead and build then wait for the Zen 3 stuff from AMD to come.

AMD putting that pressure on Intel and they aren't done. That's great for us!

                                Dang that is nice.

The need for new mobos sucks, but i doubt many people are recycling old mobos to use with new cpus and it helps to ensure full compatibility. It does mean that it will be a while before mid range mobos are released though unfortunately.
