Re: Official "I want to build a New PC!" Thread
Just made $360 more on roulette. I did it using a system which involves math probabilities, and it paid off (with the possibility of losing $1800, but that's still $200 more than I would have been out if I lost the $1000 yesterday).
It's working out, though! Thanks for the props.
You gotta keep the luck going, papa needs a new ultra wide monitor

Re: Official "I want to build a New PC!" Thread
Here is my current build, built this in 2014 and the only thing I've upgraded is the graphics card. Let me know what you think my next upgrade should be? A new monitor would be nice but I just bought a Samsung Odyssey VR headset and it's still very laggy during Beat Saber, maybe I need a new CPU?

Re: Official "I want to build a New PC!" Thread
So I made a bold move and placed $1000 on black in roulette while I'm here in Reno... and I got it.
I'm putting that towards my computer build, pretending like it's a free discount (I could also just "invest" it, but I'm doing this just because), so I'm shooting for the 2080 Ti graphics card.
Here is the build I'm currently going with:

Remember, subtract $1000 from that total when it comes to what I'm perceiving it as.
Also I had the asus 2080ti you are getting but exchange it for the MSI gaming trio. Superior in my opinion due to cooling and can overclock higher
My pc is a monster
Check out the msi gamin trip back plate. Its beautifulLast edited by XxGamerXx; 07-28-2019, 12:19 PM.Comment

You got almost exactly my build except the case, the brand of power supply and having Corsair water cool my cpu instead of nzxt

Nice. My friend also suggested the MSI, but I read about a lot of failures and poor customer support. I’ll be good with it.
I also didn’t go for a lot of colorful stuff. The area that it will fit in my room covers the glass side and it saved on costs a hair.
Anyway, I finished building it with my friend and will take it back home to mine this evening. Can’t wait to test it out!Last edited by Blzer; 07-28-2019, 01:29 PM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Official "I want to build a New PC!" Thread
Just ordered my first 1TB nvme drive. I needed the extra space and wasn't using the slot, so it was good timing.
Debating if it's worth reinstalling Windows on it or just rolling with the OS on my 860.

Re: Official "I want to build a New PC!" Thread
My laptop is finally nearing the point where I basically have to get a new one if I want to continue using laptops. I was looking earlier this year for one, but held off until I got to this point over half a year later.
Thankfully back to school sales are around.
Lenovo S340 or L340 are the leading candidates right now. Both with the sales are under $600. 1080p resolution and AMD Ryzen 5 3500u processor(which I'm guessing is good?). That's basically all I need. Probably buying a SSD for $70 anyways.Last edited by Majingir; 08-27-2019, 12:09 AM.Comment

Re: Official "I want to build a New PC!" Thread
I finished up my 3900x build in July, so far its been running like a champ. Had a i7 4790k before that, while I've been buying Intel CPU's for years decided to check out one of the new Ryzens. I primarily game on this system, so this CPU is overkill for my needs but figured this will last me quite a bit of time and even with the new consoles on the way games will eventually get core heavy.Comment

If a laptop has a PCIe SSD, that means if I want to upgrade, I'd need something like this?
And NOT this? https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07LG1PJMH/..._kHXADbV29M02XComment

^ I want to say yes, but I also want to say even if that's not one you do need, it's still one that you can have. The M.2 fits right onto the motherboard, which is kind of nice in that it might run even faster as a result.
That's what I decided to put into my desktop.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Official "I want to build a New PC!" Thread
Just trying to see which would be the better way to go seeing how the 2 SSDs I'm choosing between are different prices. One being the SATA III and other PCIe.
I read PCIe are way faster, so might be leaning that way.Last edited by Majingir; 08-31-2019, 09:47 PM.Comment

Re: Official "I want to build a New PC!" Thread
In the end I'm gonna take the risk and go DIY mode.
Best buy has one on sale which has all specs I want.
Hopefully my plan works out getting a cheaper one and simply upgrading the SSD (and selling the one the laptop came with) and making up the difference in specs that the BB one has. All while saving about 10% in the process.Comment
