Man for 2500 Blzr you can make a beast. Just go with an AMD processor for best bang for the buck.

For monitor go with the LG 4K monitor a lot of us have. Around 300 bucks and it works great with the ps4.

4K editing you can go as low as 4 core but don’t go anything less than 8 core nowadays.

Ram at least 16 gb but I found 32 to beneficial but you can always start with 16 and add later.

Graphics card I honestly only have used 1080 and 1080ti cards to edit in 4K and worked great. I’m sure you can get a cheaper card but not sure how well it performs.

Also you can go fan cooling since you aren’t going hardcore AAA gaming.

Brands that I tend to go with Asus, Gigabyte, MSI and Corsair for most parts.

Also, do you have a Microcenter near you? They have insane CPU/Motherboard deals. CPU's are usually found the cheapest there, but they also have $30 off a compatible motherboard combo too.

I would look into which CPU's perform best with specific editing software which should help in picking between the more expensive Intel products or Ryzen. I read Intel is much faster with adobe software.

Make sure to get a G-Sync compatible monitor of your feet a Nvidia cars.

I would recommend you look at getting a 1080 or a 2060 Super

Not sure. I just moved into a new area, but I'll look around for stuff like that.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions so far, guys. Keep 'em comin'!

The new AMD high core processors will destroy 4K editing. Grab one of those with a nice MOBO and get a 2080 and you are good.

Also look into NVME drives for OS and possibly footage. At this point I would totally ditch mechanical drives, you will move data around the CPU at ridiculous speeds.

With a 2000-2500$ budget not including the monitor you can make a real monster. Building it will also help you understand it much more which will help with upgrades and system repairs down the line.

I still have mechanical drives to store old projects. 4K files are a bitch

Yeah using a mech drive to dump old footage too for storage is probably a good idea. They are so cheap anyway.

This AMD launch is a mess. Waited all this time hoping to get one of their CPU's but they're still not ahead of the 9700k and there's all kinds of problems.

Part of me wants a 3700X and the other part feels like I can't trust them. Then on the other hand there's Intel and the spectre nonsense. Rock and a hard place...

Never trust AMD..worst computer I ever had was an AMD..always crashing and all sorts of issues. I went back to Intel and I'll never go back to using AMD.

Scroll to issues with launch, that's the one that caught my eye having a 1080.

I'm dealing with a lot of hassle just in the process of trying to switch over to AMD to begin with. The 570 ITX mobos restrict CPU cooling even more than usual in an ITX system so I either have to go with that or with a 470/450 and buy an old CPU to flash the Bios because the new gen won't work out of the box, and they're having issues with the 3900x. I waited to see what they'd come up with but I don't think the savings are going to be worth the headache.

I've got pretty much my entire downsized build in my Amazon cart, just stuck between whether I want to take the AMD plunge with a 3700x or get a 9900kf while they're $420 from Wal-Mart.

Think my onboard audio is finally dying, loads of static/distortion be it from the back or front audio jack(speakers, headphones, redid cables, etc.). Really don't want to buy an internal or usb sound card for this six year old PC.

So I made a bold move and placed $1000 on black in roulette while I'm here in Reno... and I got it.

I'm putting that towards my computer build, pretending like it's a free discount (I could also just "invest" it, but I'm doing this just because), so I'm shooting for the 2080 Ti graphics card.

Here is the build I'm currently going with:

                                https://pcpartpicker.com/list/NrC3q4

Remember, subtract $1000 from that total when it comes to what I'm perceiving it as.
