Re: Game of Thrones Season 4 (aka A Storm of Swords: Part Deux)

What's with all the Sam hate? Dude just took a big step planting one on Gilly.

This battle brought all the goods. Seriously, a giant, mammoths, and a giant riding a mammoth. How can anyone not appreciate that? Then that giant arrow that made a crow fly.

After this episode, I actually came to appreciate Alliser Thorne for once. His reasoning for being an ***, choices he made, his speeches, and showing his prowess in battle. He acquitted himself quite well seeing as most of what we know of him is this twat who dislikes Lord Snow. He's not dead, is he? He was brought into a room but another character said he fell in battle. Seeing as fell usually means death but we saw otherwise, then Jon Snow talks about "who's going to give orders?" making it seem as if Thorne IS dead, I hope that gets cleared up a bit.

Sucks about Pip and Grenn. Grenn more so, especially after he toughened those guys up by reciting the vow. At least he went out like a G for giant.

Oh, Ygritte.... Damn kid sure knew what moment to pick to be an 80's action hero. Can't we just trade Janos Slynt for Ygritte? Or Tormund? Gawdamit. Team red head lost another member after Sansa's black turn.

Not a spoiler. Just one last look at my favorite wildling.
      Spoiler

Jon Snow - . I was ready to throw something if he did the stupid thing by fighting Tormund 1v1 but thankfully, he pulled a page out of the Arya handbook and just shot the mofo on the knee. I'm excited to see how this parlay/assassination attempt works out. Or maybe I shouldn't be excited because bad things happen to good people all the time.

Yep, it reminded me of that crazy shot from True Detective, though not quite as epic.

Was I the only one to not even react to YGrette dying? I know it was suppose to be shocking and a sad moment, but after last week I was just like "meh". All my shock emotion was drained out of me. I honestly wanted to laugh when it happened because I knew I was suppose to have feels but instead I just didn't care. Idk maybe I'm just weird.

I loved seeing the Giant with the bow/harpoon. Not really something you see or think of with them.

Had last week's fiasco not happened, Im sure I would have had feels. But now Im just on guard 24/7 with this show. Once love and happiness get involved in something, you already know someone is gonna die. This is RR Martin's mission in life, to make us fear happiness.

You're not the only one. I saw it as either Jon getting shot (again) and dying, or what actually happened. I don't imagine she would have just lowered her bow and let Jon go in the thick of the battle. I also thought it was a nice twist that the kid (don't know his name) shot her, especially after what her and the wildlings did to his parents. I'm just glad that Jon hasn't been killed off, and that's the way it was looking with Ygritte pointing her bow at him.

I don't know, I got a little bit of goosebumps with her final words. I was waiting for it and it when it happened, yeah feels all around.

I was probably even more affected by Pip and Grenn's deaths though, especially Grenn. I felt like he was becoming more awesome the thicker that beard got. At least he went out like a G, the reciting of the vow while that giant was running at them was epic.

Grenn was the only death that had me a little bummed cause he was one of the few Wall guys I liked, however yeah he went out better then anyone we've seen in awhile so it was cool.

She hesitated though. Watch it again, and you could just see on her face that she couldn't do it after a season's worth of "I'm going to kill him." She genuinely loved Jon, and that hesitation killed her.

So we can all blame Sam for telling Olly to pick up a weapon.

The Wall is by far my least favorite part of the show and I don't care for Jon Snow or any of his friends so this was by far my least favorite episode in the series. Hoping to get away from them and back with the rest of the cast for the next episode.

And I actually burst out laughing when the giant scythe came out of the wall and killed those wildlings. I was glad to hear that wasn't in the books, just a ridiculous thing to put in IMO. Didn't make sense to me.
