    Re: Gotham

I didn't get to mention this earlier but I really like the "feel" of the show. It's not Batman: The Animated Series level but there seems to be a timeless quality to the setting. Almost all the cars used in the show are older (I don't think i've seen a car manufactured post 1988 on screen) and even technology seems a bit nebulous. Bruce Wayne has a SD TV in his mansion for cryin' out loud! Add the grungy and dingy atmosphere to Gotham and you got a show that feels like a spiritual successor to those gritty '70s Scorcese movies.

I think this is something that bears keeping in the back of your mind when watching the show as it certainly doesn't scream 2014 to me.

That's intentional though right? If they're playing up the "beginning" angle they'll need to keep a retro theme as much as possible. The cars, the clothing, the TVs, etc, nothing can be current.

I'm not sure, There's nothing that actually says "this is taking place in the past" and we've seen some aspects that are definitely modern (computers etc etc) so it's hard to tell exactly. I think if it's intentional than they made the right idea of making it nebulous rather than saying "this is taking place in such and such a year".

They probably have to be as obscure as possible to avoid getting nitpicked by the comic crowd. Good call on the computers though, that one escaped me.

It must be tricky as hell writing this show lol, young Bruce needs access to information for his little investigative ventures, but at the same time they have to limit him to an unknown time period from the past.

Combine that with the emergences of all the villains (at the same time) and it can't be easy keeping all the time lines in tact

Last episode was okay. The whole drug storyline felt a little too much, too soon for my liking. I feel like things still need to stay relatively grounded.

Also, did anyone catch that Bruce was watching Zorro on the TV just before the breaking news segment popped up? Thought that was a nice little touch.

The last couple of episodes have been just OK for me. I found myself bored with them halfway through. I hope it gets better.

Last episode was just too cliche for me. I told my wife that right away it was so boring towards the end. The first part was great, but at the end of the episode, it was very "meh" - and I wanted to change the channel (i.e. fast forward to next week's episode).

I know sometimes these episodes are necessary to build - but the other episodes were so good, that I had high expectations - obviously too high.

Waiting for Monday night. I am a huge fan of this series. I am hoping for another good episode. Better than last week, I hope. I hope they stop nerfing Gordon this week. He was in 2 scenes last week. They guy is the star of the show. He needs more screen time.

Odd that nobody wanted to talk about this week's episode. I watched the Cowboys game instead. I'm gonna have to watch it On-Demand.

I dunno, this show is just not good.
It seems like its getting worse on a weekly basis.
