I wanted to take a night and gather my thoughts before spewing out an incoherent diatribe about what I didnt like about that hallway scene. I just want to start by saying, as a Beth Stan, I am not upset that Beth died. I just think the way they constructed her death was ridiculous.

Beth's logic in stabbing Dawn was worse than anything Andrea ever pulled on the show and Andrea had some brain dead moments. What was Beth's endgame there? Yeah Im gonna be in the clear to return to my family and friends, but before I go, let me get real close to Dawn and.....stab her in the shoulder with mini scissors? At least get a neck shot and go out actually having done something. They missed me with that logic there. And Beth was not built as a stupid character so why did she do something so stupid?

Ok lets say Beth was ready to die in that moment for whatever reason. Why would she put her group in danger like that? She couldnt have assumed nobody else would die there. For all she knew, she could have incited a shootout right there in the hallway killing everyone. That was dumb of her.

And lastly, why didnt a shootout break out after Beth got shot? Then why didnt a shootout break out when Dawn got shot? You telling me just because tat one cop, Sheppard, said to "hold your fire", everybody actually did it? How did she all of a sudden become their leader? I thought they detested weakness? Wouldnt her being captured, held hostage etc show weakness to her cop buddies? Not buying that a shootout wouldnt have broken out between our group's emotions and the cop group emotions.

However, I really like what they're doing with Rick. He is becoming Shane; slowly but surely. He killed that cop in the beginning of the episode on purpose. He had the plan to go in covertly, grab Beth and Carol and get out of dodge but the others talked him out of it, getting Beth killed. He wont forget that. I think Terminus and Garret changed him. GOOD.

I think that was believable. Dawn clearly didn't really shoot Beth on purpose, IMO. It was just a reflex to being stabbed (and I share some of your reservations with that chain of events, but I just let it go and took in the moment).

Darryl shooting Dawn was also just a reaction, I think.

So I don't think it's entirely unbelievable that people in the room could recognize the circumstances of those two deaths and take a moment to stop, and realize that nobody else had to die.

Kind of reinforces the "one of yours for one of ours" attitude that both groups had.

Kingkilla makes a great point. Mini scissors obviously wouldn't do much but cause trouble. You'd think she would have counted her blessings and just went with the group.

                    The Walking Dead (Season 5)

I think both groups realized in that hallway, a shootout was a death sentence for pretty much everyone. With that in mind, seeing what Rick's group just pulled off maybe kept the cops from shooting especially over the death of someone they weren't fond of. I do agree that someone would've fired and incited the firefight realistically, but everyone was thinking that so they had to surprise everyone and walk away.

What did her (Dawn) supervisor mean when he said who they're working for (told her to tell Beth)? There a man behind the curtain pulling the strings for these cops and that hospital? It seemed too nice there without some extra help...

When Michonne told Maggie that Beth was alive, did anyone else catch the look? Like "oh ****, I hadn't even thought about her)?

Speaking of Maggie possibly slipping into a funk, I think Michonne does. Something about that last episode and her dialogues with Gabriel.

Rick is finally becoming a badass. Damn right the things that have happened changed him. The trough scene still haunts me, I have to believe it does the same for him. Can't go back to that position.

Yeah I just found it really weird that Maggie didn't seem to care about Beth all season long. I mean, she knew in the season premiere that Beth was alive, because Darryl told her, right?

So, she's determined to find Glen, dead or alive, come hell or high water, but apparently doesn't care about finding her sister at all? Struck me as odd.

I think Maggie had come to terms with Beth being dead. Like mentally she accepted it a while back. When Michonne gave her news that she was confirmed alive, her eyes lit up and in her mind her sister was brought back from the dead.
