The foreshadowing was strong in the bar scene before the end there.Comment

Re: True Detective (Season Two)
I was shocked too, but I don't think that's the case.
Spoiler
I'm sure this is one of those times where the individual just happens to be wearing a BP-vest.
I have to admit I'm not digging this season nearly as much as S1.
In fact, until last night's ending, I was basically going to give up on this years story.
However, based on how EP2 ended, I'm willing to give EP3 a shot.Comment

I'm not close to giving up on the show. In fact it's almost a certainty I'll watch all 8 episodes.
If Ray does, it means he's all in to solving the crime and all out of Frank's organization. Might lead to his deathSpoilersurvive, but at least he'll be redeemed.Spoiler(if he's not already dead)
Not sure what Paul's (Taylor Kitsch) homophobia adds to the story, unless he's conflicted about what he likes. I liked "Dan Dority's" (Dixon) comment, "Why would you do that?"
Much of the dialogue between McAdams and Farrell didn't ring true for me. Just didn't seem natural.Comment

Damn Money, you're as tough on this as you are on NHL video games.
Will watch tonight on HBO Go. Don't mind reading ahead. Looking forward to this picking up where last week's episode left off.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

Re: True Detective (Season Two)
I found the theme song interesting in that the lyrics changed toward the end from episode 1 to episode 2.
I only noticed because I accidentally started episode 1, watched the theme and then saw Farrell in the car with his kid. Took me a second to realize that wouldn't make sense.
So when I started episode 2, I figured I knew the song by now and the closing lyrics were different.
Just found that interesting."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace
"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob NeyerComment

Re: True Detective (Season Two)
So, am I correct in understanding that Rachel McAdams's detective and the biker cop are using the investigation to actually investigate the town as well as Colin Farrell's character? And the people Colin works for are aware this could be happening so they have asked him to be aware?
I feel like I missed a point or two. Seems like some words got garbled with others."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. Re: True Detective (Season Two)
I think it's just another "demon" for us to learn about. He makes the comment about his experience at the bank, trying to affect masculinity to the extreme. It's like he's trying to hard in that scene. And we've clearly seen he has some trouble with the women in his life. And then at the end of the episode he's looking out from the balcony at those gay guys in the angel outfits walking down the street...Idk if it will matter in the story ultimately, but it's definitely a part of his inner struggle. Not sure what Paul's (Taylor Kitsch) homophobia adds to the story, unless he's conflicted about what he likes. I actually liked that dialogue between Ray and Ani in the car, mostly because of Ray's funny one liners. I think Farrell has done the best acting job in this one so far, so we'll see.
What you guys mentioned in the spoilers crossed my mind as well, but that may just be wishful thinking, though many people seem to be thinking similarly.Comment

Re: True Detective (Season Two)
Pretty much. I believe Ani and Paul are doubling this as a murder and corruption investigation, though I think maybe the corruption is more Paul's side of things, as they told him if he's successful it'll get him off the hook for his own trouble. So, am I correct in understanding that Rachel McAdams's detective and the biker cop are using the investigation to actually investigate the town as well as Colin Farrell's character? Ray was told to "direct the flow of information" to throw them off any path that leads back to the top, and obviously he told Ani in their car ride that he "doesn't think this investigation was supposed to work."
This season definitely seems like it will delve into the corruption theme that was touched on quite a bit in season 1 as well.Comment

I don't think he is, I don't recall seeing any blood at all did you guys? Either he was wearing a vest or the Baltimore Ravens super fan was using some sort of non-lethal ammo or both..

Re: True Detective (Season Two)
Right. It'll come back to the scene and we'll find out it was mostly to stun him and leave a message.
Who would want to kill him anyway? It would seem that keeping him alive is in the criminal world's best interest."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied.
