Yea...Vince Vaughn is flexing his acting chops on this one. He's doing fantastic IMO too.

Agree. He has the added burden of being associated with light comedy, and he's pulling it off.

This season isn't quite grabbing me like season 1 did, but I am still enjoying it.

I lol every time they show that girl singing in the bar, just thinking about the bar owner. "Hey, I have a great idea! Let's find a solemn looking girl to sing the most depressing ****ing songs known to man, that'll be great for the atmosphere around here!"

That shootout was nuts. Reminds me a bit of the scene from season one when they're busting into the biker meth house.

Too me it was a lot more impactful and dramatic because the police were ambushed, taking some serious hits, and outgunned by automatic weapons. But you're right, from a visual aspect it was right up there with the meth house bust from season one. I think it was a key bonding moment for the three leads.

Still love seeing Frank (VV) shake down people.

Typically don't quote myself, but just an update. My opinion Vince Vaughn is doing awesome so far. Great to see him in a non-comedic role and pulling it off so well.

Civilians where getting hit all over even by some of the cops. And at the end they have the WTF just happened look, spanning out to all the bodies. That just woke me up for the rest of the season.

A little slow early, but powerful scene at the end.

What about the guy who's coming on to Frank's girlfriend? Wonder if he'll get any teeth pulled?

Yeah, I also wonder what's up with Frank's #2, the guy who got demoted to pit boss. He's a cocky dude.

There's a lot of loose ends I feel like. Don't know who or where this is all headed.

The shootout was sick. Some serious violence with some dudes getting their head blown out.

Does anybody else feel like Ray is like the perfect anti-hero? I like his character more and more every episode.

I knew it was inevitable, but all the comparisons to season 1 suck. This thing is standing on its own. Once the shock of seeing the four main leads playing in the True Detective world wore off, I've been focused on this story and this story alone. You can't recapture what season 1 had; perfect story, perfect actors, played perfectly. If this was called "Cop Story," everyone would be ****ting their pants over the actors and storyline. Instead it's just being made out as passable, which I think is unfair.
