It is just really slow to me.
And before everyone says it, I do like shows that make you think.
I cannot put my finger on why, but this show just really bores me.
It's just not for me. I think it has something to do with how the hosts storylines are on a loop. And the loops will probably end up having a key role in the show but like I said it just bores me to death.
I want to want to watch a show to give it an hour each week.
When I would rather play 2k or Madden than watch a show it has lost me.
That's what is happening with this show with me.
I can tell you that my lunch group has 6 members. We eat lunch in our break room at 11:30 each day and talk about sports and shows.
The other 4 0f the other 5 guys watched the first 3 episodes and are now too done with it.
I really don't see anyway this show last 5 seasons.

I can see that. And I hope you don't think I was insinuating that you were one of those that didn't like complicated shows, or ones that make you think.
(I know it came off like that and I apologize if it did. I shouldn't talk either because I love the Scream show which is as popcorn/pulp as you can get).

And I won't argue that the series has been slow so far. A huge reason why I love it is because I adore the Western genre.
But I do feel that last night's episode was really good and kind of sped up the process.
Especially if you consider the theory that's been discussed here.

I didn't read CMH's theory, I refuse to read theories on shows after LOST.
I believed a certain theory I read on a website for a long time.
It ended up being totally off and it kind of ruined the show for me. lol
I may re-watch the last nights show again.
This is nothing new to me, I lose interest in shows all the time.
I have really only watched 3 shows from start to finish in my life.
Lost, TWD, and GOT.

I'm just along for the ride. For some reason I don't care about theories, my own or others. Not sure if that's a sign that I'm not really liking it, but am just enjoying it at face value each week and nothing more.

Lost got convoluted at the end and most likely because the producers read the same theory as you and wanted to fool the audience and pretend they were smarter than everyone. It turned into an utter mess.

That's why I'm a little fearful of Westworld when I see the Bad Robot logo pop up at the end. It reminds me of the 6 season I wasted with Lost.

I really really want to like Westworld, but it is starting to wear on me.

What is the maze? I could see where if a robot developed the necessary reasoning to function on its own than the maze could be some tangible maze that they would actually exit into world where the robots have free will.

But then why would a guest want to find it. It's like he's looking for the secret level of Super Mario World, outside of conquering it, what would it benefit a human? Perhaps he just needs a wharp whistle.

I like the idea of the robots gaining consciousness. Very intriguing. The thought of guests having free will without consequence is annoying. Except last night episode seems to contradict that.

Couldn't agree more about Lost fist.
I loved that show, but by the end, it's like the writers/producers just threw a bunch of crap at a wall and called it a wrap.
I ended up hating the series and I want nothing to do with those writers ever again.

Regarding the Maze, I really think it'll lead to Arnold, who's found a way to live forever inside the robots. Maybe he doesn't even have a physical form. He can bounce from the subconscience of a host one after another.

I suspect it was Arnold that Dolores and Maive were conversing with?

I like the mystery and the sci-fi surrounding the show, but in the end, I watch it because it has cowboys.

Man, I love this show. But there's no way it competes with The Walking Dead. Let's get some perspective. No cable series has ever done what TWD has with ratings.

But \W/ is my favorite show on now.

To answer why I haven't commented, it's because I've noticed lack of excitement for the series here. I already go on reddit, read post show reviews, listen to two podcasts. So by the time I get to OS, there's nothing really to say.

I do think this episode was even better than the last. I feel this series will be one of those that gains an audience in time. It's a very out there concept. Usually doesn't attract casual television viewers.

If the hosts can't harm the guests, what was up with last nights episode. Seemed like a certain guest was about to die.

I don't think he was going to die at all. Maybe the danger or fear of dying.

They are in a more dangerous region. You go there if you want the game difficulty heightened.

The hosts can't kill. I don't recall anything about not harming. They do shoot bullets that leave marks on people.

Cowboys are sweet. The Nitro double cross and the new confederacy were sweet. The man in black I know he's a main character but it seems like he's running through basically a video game with a cheat code so he loses my interest to some degree. Which is the same way the young MIB is running around so I wouldn't be surprised if they are the same guy.

It's an interesting take thinking that your consciousness could live on forever through the robots, I guess then you would want to find the maze, get out and operate in the free world. I can't imagine that even though Westworld is sweet, you'd be satisfied being trapped in there for eternity.

After reading CMH's theory, last night's episode was even more interesting.

I thought last night's episode further cemented the theory.

But I'm seeing a lot of people on reddit feeling it did the exact opposite.

I think a lot of the reason why they think that way is because they are taking certain comments at face value.

1. MiB telling Teddy that back in the day you could find metal parts in the hosts but now they are made of flesh.

I've seen this used to argue that William and Logan are not in the past. However, MiB doesn't state how long that was. He's clearly bored of the park. We don't know how long he's felt that way.

I'll also add that Logan specifically states that someone died in the park a few years before their visit. Now, I could use that to argue that it was Arnold, but this goes back to not taking things at face value. Logan also says, "I don't know his name." How convenient. Maybe because it's not Arnold he's talking about.

This obviously makes it harder to prove the theory since a few years back would line up with Arnold having died recently and W&L being in the past. But, I think there's something else going on there.


2. Lawrence being patched up and ready to play Westworld's Most Wanted for William & Logan one day after MiB slit his throat

To me, this is where I think the series has done a good job of purposely throwing people off. Yes, the need to spend the night before seeing Lawrence would support "one timeliners" because that's enough time to clean Lawrence up and get him to where he needs to be: at the start of his loop.

Or, it's done so viewers can think that. Again, face value. Ignore what's in front of you.

3. Dolores being with Ford was a strong confirmation for me.

Ford says to her: "You were off your loop again. Looking for something.." etc.

I think the "again" is important. If Ford and Dolores are in the present then Dolores going off with W&L would be in the past, when she went off her loop and discovered something about herself.

Also, I really think the comment "Dolores is off her loop" is again a face value comment. Too on the nose. Purposely done to throw us off. I think they gathered Dolores back up from wherever she went in the present, but because of what's happening in the past, it looks to the viewer like it's all the same time frame or some weird dream.

I'm still behind two-timelines. Very behind it.

In the pilot, they very clearly demonstrated the significance of the progress they've made in making the hosts more realistic throughout the years. Ford is seen interacting with one of the old, deactivated hosts, and unlike modern hosts, it is completely obvious that this one is a robot.

If the multiple-timeline theory is true... why are the quality of hosts in the separate storylines exactly the same? Adding to that, they have demonstrated how many of the hosts have held multiple roles in the past, yet from what I have noticed at least, the common hosts in each storyline have held exactly the same roles... I guess it's possible that the hosts we have seen appear in both storylines *just happen* to have retained the same roles for a longer period of time - but doubtful IMO.

I think the writers are intentionally making it look like the multiple storylines twist is a possibility as a "smoke and mirrors" approach to conceal whatever actual twist they go with.

We don't know exactly how old the park is, but knowing that the whole thing is Ford's baby means we can approximate it. Ford is probably in the range of 65-70 years old (?). If we assume the multiple-timeline theory that has been suggested, that puts him at age 35-40 at the time of the W&L arc, 31-36 at the time of Arnold's death.

The circumstances surrounding Arnold's death probably suggest that the park was at least a few years old when he died, but it doesn't seem possible that Ford could have created this park when he was any younger than 25 (being conservative with that estimate, I think).

That puts the park to, at most, 45 years old in the present. If that's true, and the multiple-timeline theory is also true, that would mean that 99.9% of the progress in the hosts' quality happened from Years 0 - 15, and there was almost no progress at all for the next 30 years. That combined with the fact that we have programmer's still pushing updates makes me feel like the theory can't be true.

Yeah, for sports and video games OS is great discussion, for most TV shows, not so much.
