Re: Cord cutting
My Spectrum bill is 203 a month, have internet and tv, if I lived by myself I could use anything Youtube TV, Hulu TV, or just go with my streaming services but my grandmother lives with me and need something really easy to use. She said boy you can get rabbit ears but I don't want to go that route. Will keep my internet but need something for TV...any suggestions? Was thinking Youtube TV...how does it work, just an app you click on?Comment

Every time a song disappears or gets edited in my Apple Music is awful, anything that doesn’t include outright ownership is always going to end up sucking, streaming is the worst.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

Re: Cord cutting
Well the idea was that people were tired of being forced to buy channel bundles from cable companies that didnt contain alot of what they wanted to watch and paying a high fee. So now content providers see that people like to pick and choose so now everything price-wise is getting broken down individually with a even higher fee. i guess we see how long it take for youtubetv to get near 100bux, if content providers starting increase their own standalone prices. lol music industry, i guess good for consumers bad for artists.Kenny: Ok Vic, I'm ready for some girl on girl action.
Vic: No Kenny, that's girl versus girl.
Kenny: What's the difference?
Vic: Well, in one, one girl wins. In the other....
Kenny: Everyone wins?!?!

But that's just for live TV. Add Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max, Prime, and anything else, it's just as much as cable and DTV. In the end, nothing has changed at all. Netflix used to be like $8, right? I think for 4K it's double that now?Comment

Re: Cord cutting
It's already there man, YTTV is like $65 I think and now if you want 4K it's $85. Do some sports add-ons or other premiums then it's easily over $100.

Re: Cord cutting
Why would people think they could get everything cable offered for a cheaper price to begin with? The revolution is that I can pay for internet, and Netflix, and call it a day. The advantage of picking and choosing ceases to exist when you pick everything.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

Re: Cord cutting
Sure but Netflix has evolved and has to rely more on original content since many studios went for their own streaming services. From what I remember Netflix had the GOAT catalogue in like 2011-14.Comment

Re: Cord cutting
With the cable company, I was always locked into a one-year deal and then had to negotiate a better price at the end of that one year so that I could be locked into a new one-year deal.
With streaming, I can come and go as I please. And I don't have to go through that whole ordeal with customer service every year.Comment

Re: Cord cutting
I will say for sports especially, the most annoying thing about streaming on YTTV or watching through an app is the delay. I think if you watch a game on local antenna and YTTV at the same time, the antenna has got to be at least 20 seconds ahead if not more. I recognize the differences in technology is why, I'm just stating my grievances. I think the lag has gotta be illegal stream > YTTV stream > DTV > Cable > Antenna.Comment

Re: Cord cutting
I'm not buying that this increase in fidelity is costing this much to these companies.
Same reason why I think it's crap for cable companies to charge more for increased internet speeds when it's literally just a flip of a switch.
Maybe that's me being ignorant but when I ask Spectrum what they'd do to increase my speed, person said she could do it on her end. Supply and demand I suppose.Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.
It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.Comment

Re: Cord cutting
One thing to be aware of: Google and Roku are fighting. Roku pulled the YTTV app off its store. So if the TV doesn't already have the YTTV app on it, you likely won't be able to get it. There is a workaround using the main YT app, which is still available on the Roku store.

Re: Cord cutting
Thing for me is like 95% of the time I am watching tv I am watching sports so something like Netflix don't help and I am not big in MLB. So in summer time when there is no nba, nfl, NHL I was basically paying for like 2 months and not even using it. You can get basically all 3 of those for like 500 in a year for like nba league pass, nfl Sunday ticket etc way cheaper then any like cable or tv but lots and lots of games are blanked out because you got to have local stations. If there was a way to not have black outs I would just do that and not have cable. I also think that's the only reason they have black outs is because if black outs where not a thing then sports fans like me wouldn't keep cable.Comment
