that because there not providing any base options for users to choose from like slingtv. 15 dollar increase for 8 viacoms channels, no thanks. Content providers keep charging more and more and you have to take the whole bundle of channels. I guess that why Ps Vue gave up because they didnt want keep raising prices.

Re: Cord cutting
I was trying to recall from memory but was wrong. I just looked it up again and YTTV already had their price increase in July and it's $64.99. Hulu is $55, so yes the gap is $10. I have enough DVR space with Hulu (50 Hours). Don't need to save some stuff because a lot of Hulu is already on-demand anyway. Regardless, these streaming services are getting ridiculous with price increases. They were forecast to be a bargain when they started as there was no infastructure and should have stayed cheaper. Especially when you have to pay for high speed internet anyway to use them.
Reminds me of how digital downloads were supposed to bring down game prices because there was no disc or box to be produced. Howd that go?Comment

Google should have told Viacom/Sinclair to pound sand, I mean I enjoy the MTV challenge and all but the negativity of the price increase was not worth it.

Re: Cord cutting
Theres a new Chromecast that's out.
It has a remote and all, but I don't get why the remote can't have a skip ahead or go back feature.
The one thing I don't like about streaming any show on chromecast is that you can't skip ahead or go back unless you manually do it on a phone or laptop.
And I'm not sure what other TVs are like, but my TV has a feature built in where I can use the regular TV remote to pause, play, and change the volume of other devices such as chromecast. So that new chromecast doesn't seem to be as innovative imo.N.Y Mets

Re: Cord cutting
If I have one complaint with YTTV it is that most of the seasons and episodes can't be watched on a lot of shows really pretty much all of them. For instance Killing Eve only has a few older episodes available. For those of you with Hulu With Live TV is this the same with that TV option?Comment

It kinda depends on the show. I have regular Hulu as well so a lot of the shows I watch has all the seasons.

Re: Cord cutting
It just VOD or catchup service for live tv. Episodes that have recently aired and that the networks allows replaying for a certain amount of time. That why with some services you see episode expiring in so many days.Kenny: Ok Vic, I'm ready for some girl on girl action.

Re: Cord cutting
Apple TV announces they've gotten the rights to the Charlie Brown holiday specials. Halloween, Christmas and so on.
So it won't be airing on ABC anymore.
Charlie Brown Christmas is a classic. One thing about cable that I feel streaming services cant replicate that regular tv has is christmas specials with christmas commercials, special holiday graphics on the network and so on.
And you could find stuff on every channel. Having rights to a classic stuck on 1 service will limit the people who could watch it.
Hopefully that's not where we're headed, that if someone wants to watch various Christmas classics, they need to pay for multiple streaming services to do so rather than them airing on the basic networks.Comment

Re: Cord cutting
For example, a show like Friends or Seinfeld is on streaming services, but doesn't mean you cant catch reruns on many diff networks still.
Or a movie might be on a service, but it can still air on tv.
But a show being exclusive to the streaming service to the point where it cant even air on tv, that's the part I'm hoping doesn't become the trend. I'm not referring to exclusive shows created by the service, I mean ones which are made for TV but end up being removed from TV.Last edited by Majingir; 10-21-2020, 12:01 PM.Comment

If its 1 or 2 things its fine, but if everything starts shifting over and all rights on tv are lost, that's the part that sucks.
