It's not. Streaming is still behind. I don't know how they are producing games now but the local stations were always the closest to live. Then NFLST as it was the national stream, and then the local station on SAT or cable. MLB, NBA, NHL were different as the teams provide the production for their partnered station.
Your TV providers will add some time versus local OTA station as they have to get the data. National stations can send the data at once to all the providers and internet at once. Local stations have to take the national feeds and then add whatever they need to and send it to the providers from their unlink.
So games on national stations could potentially be close to live to stream, but you still need to wait for the data to be encoded, uploaded, downloaded, and decrypted. Anything going through the local stations will be slower.
You will even have out of sync devices if you try to stream on multiple devices on the same wifi.
