Anyone heard Disturbed's version of Land of Confusion? Paul Collins did the original. I think its pretty good.

          As Good As:
"Against All Odds" - The Postal Service (original - Phil Collins)
How come Collins gets no respect? The man is EASILY one of the best musicians overall ever

Gotta agree, RATM is much more suited for that song rather than a bunch of potheads. The only way anyone in Cypress Hill "kills a man" is maybe if that man ate their last twinkie while they were high.

              Bump.

Casey Crescenzo (of The Dear Hunter) cover of Beautiful Girls, originally done by Sean Kingston.

While the original is fairly new, I just love Casey's version. His voice is so much better than Sean's IMO.

Everyone who said All Along The Watchtower is absolutely correct. By far the best cover I have ever heard, and better than the original.

Also, for the sake of not getting my head chopped off, I will preface this with I know its not "good" per say and definitely not better, but the Dropkick Murphys are releasing the vinyl version of "The Meanest of Times" with their version of "Baba O'Riley" on it as a bonus.

Godsmack just released their cover of Led Zeppelin's "Good Times, Bad Times" on iTunes. I'm not gonna say its better, but its definitely not bad. They don't deviate too far from Zeppelin's style, but they still manage to apply some of that Godsmack style into parts of it.

I'm way too obsessed with cover songs for my own good.

I'll almost OK a cover if a Legend wants to cover a great song (e.g. Johnny Cash covering NIN, Marvin Gaye covering the Beatles). But, upstart bands trying to release an Insta-Hit is untalented BS. Do it as a B-side... a hidden track... don't bite a great song for the easy path.

And...more importantly... you can't do a song better than the original, because music is art.... and the original vision is what the music is supposed to be.

Damn lazy *** MTV hack generation.

Yep, probably the best cover ever.

I don't know if it was ever mentioned or not, but Tool's cover of Led Zeppelin's "No Quarter" is amazing.

The rest I have either not heard, or agree with though.
Yeah right, that song is classic and sould have not been redone. I like Shinedowns version, but it is no where near as great as the Skynrds. In my opinion Ronnine is one of the all time great singers ever. And that band just flat out rock, I can only dream about how many great song they could have come up with. If the plane crash never happen.
