Microsoft is really going to have to impress me to keep my $400 that I had set aside for the xbox360. I thought that was going to be enough to get the system(hdd included) and buy a game. Now I realize I would have to come up with more money that I don't have. I can be just as happy with battlefield 2 coming out for the xbox.

Re: Xbox 360 Pricing Announced
Once we see the videos man we're all gonna be buying this. That's why we're here. We have problems.
I have a wife, a mortgage, a child who will arrive next month. But I'm getting it. With the amount I pay in taxes, and the amount I just paid to contractors. I'll take my $400 ANY day for something that will give me enjoyment 5+ years.
Bad movies cost $10
Bad Dinners cost $100
Don't feel guilty being good to yourself. LIfe is short. I know everyone has different situations, I respect that. Yes your mortage and children come first. However, if you can maybe re-arrange your spending in the next few months this could be very doable. Just my .02PSN: JISTIC_OS

It's doable... I just may wait till spring when the games start to get better and I have a full understanding about the system.Comment

As long as HDD game-caching is standard for ALL 360 games, then my major concern is addressed. Still, dropping close to $500 for the system and one game is heavy. More than likely, I'll wait for my Christmas bonus from work and pick it up.XBL: Mean Greene

Re: Xbox 360 Pricing Announced
I will buy the premium system.. I am going to have to reduce the # of games I buy at launch to probably 2 though (was planning on 4)
Does anyone know if the current XBOX controllers will work with the 360? If not.. I will have to buy another controller too.Comment

If Video games is your thing, $400 is doable. Not only will I get 360, I will get PS3 and Nintendo Revolution. If I don't think I'll have the money, I'll save in advance. I'll sell other games on Ebay. I'll sell my X-Box/PS2 (Provided both new systems are backwords compatible). Many are complaining about the price, but there are still about 3 months to save. I'm already starting set aside loot for 360. I love video games and can't stand it if there is a new system that everyone is enjoying and I'm not apart of it. When you have a hobby, you should not feel guilty about spending money towards it. Just as long as it doesnt take away from life's necesseties.Comment

Re: Xbox 360 Pricing Announced
Originally posted by NumberOneRBFor some reason people think Sony will now release their system for upwards of $500. And I really have to clue why people would think something like that. There is pretty much no way Sony would be ignorant enough to see the X360's price of $400, then say "well, we need to make ours MORE expensive than theirs to compete." I expect Sony to release the console at $400, then let the consumers know that at that price, just how much more standard features consumers will get from their PS3s than the X360. People just throw out numbers such as Blu-Ray drives being $1000, so that must mean that the console itself will be close to that expense. People have to understand that consoles dont' work that way price wise. You have to remember that when the DVD players first came out they were extremely expensive, and yet the PS2 had one in it standard and sold for $300. Also realize that most of the features being added to the PS3 have been produced in-house by Sony themselves. The Bluetooth technology, Blu-Ray, Cell, RSX, have all been fully developed or co-developed in-house by Sony. This means that loyalty fees will not be considered when adding these items into the console and this will lower costs substantually.
The reports of the PS3 costing $494 to make are probably close to being very accurate.
So yes, they'll come out with a non-HDD $399 version, but I also believe an upgraded $499 version will also be released, which will include a HDD and other goodies.
They won't be able to offer up a $299 base unit IMO.Comment

Re: Xbox 360 Pricing Announced
just wanted to post something that IGN brought to my attention today....
to play with the wireless controller (not have to keep putting new AA batteries in every 6 hours)....
you must buy the rechargable battery pack ($11.99)
and you must buy the plug and play recharger($19.99)....
thats $33 worth of more stuff.......
this is really gonna start hurting the wallet
a second controller would be 49.99, + $12 more for it to have a rechargable battery....
thats $100 to have two player actionComment

Re: Xbox 360 Pricing Announced
I officially pulled my pre order off the table yesterday after work. I will enjoy myself with battlefield 2 and battlefront 2 till spring and decide what is the best decision to make then.Comment

Re: Xbox 360 Pricing Announced
I cancelled my pre-order too. The stupid guy at gamestop tried to convince me not to because "The Price won't go down for 2-3 years." I'm really starting to hate gamestop employees. Not only are they not well informed but they are downright annoying and sometimes cocky. Anyway i think im gonna wait for the PS3 to come out or X-Box 360 to go down. I dunno its just not worth it to me anymore. Im going away to college soon and my priorities are straightening out. I'm starting to outgrow video games and im playing them less and less so for me it makes sense to wait. Anyway hopefully when the PS3 comes out the X-Box 360 will drop in price like some people think. If not and i have to wait 2 years then it looks like the PS2 will be my last video game system.Last edited by ASB37; 08-19-2005, 09:38 AM.Go Yankees

Re: Xbox 360 Pricing Announced
Well I know I am more informed than EB employees. I read up to the minute news on the internet everyday. They (EB) didn't realize the pricing for the xbox360 till a day later. Anytime I go there with breaking news, they never know anything about it. Those employees are almost worthless with their advice and opinionsComment
