The Gamestop I goto I frequent quite a bit and Ive seen the list and was informed they will have 50 360s for reserves and approximately 100-150 for sale.

Where is this Gamestop located in Iowa?

It isn't really right, but it's a reality. If they still have enough to cover all the presales for people that were told would be in the first shipment, then they figure the rest were already told they would be 2nd shipment or later, so their arses are covered. The rest can be sold to walk ins, and I am sure they figure that more of those people are more likely to spend a bunch of money on games and accessories because they are caught up in the hoopla.

poor logic IMO. I think that someone who is preordering is more likely to buy "extras" than someone who didn't.

what do you mean by "extras"? I pre-ordered. I am going to pick up a couple games with my console, however, i won't be buying any accessories at this point. I'm sure i'll pick up an extra wireless controller later on.

Lets see, first off that Iowa store is in my region and I can assure the RD will have that store fill all preorders before a walk-in can come in and buy one. However, based on the allocations and amount reserved for both "shipments", which the GS execs know what to expect between launch and Christmas, walk-ins coud still possibly get one on launch, especially a core system. But the extras that come in for launch night are going to be sold to the 2nd sku reservees first based on the date and time they were reserved.

more games, controllers, xbox live cards, etc. I would think that the casual gamer would just pick up a console and a game and be done until the next big game they want comes out.

Xbox has sold. I'm kinda sad too. When I put it up yesterday, I had no clue it would sell so freaking fast. Still have 2 weeks to go before launch...lol

Haha I know, thats why I'm kinda scared of giving it up right now. Of course my productivity on other "important" things would probably skyrocket the next 2 weeks.

I'll manage. I put it up now just in case the buyer took a while to pay. However, I did put in auctions, "if you forsee any circumstances that would cause youto not be able to pay at close of auction, I respectfully ask that you not bid on my item".

Not necessarily. That is probably true for a decent amount of casual buyers, but there are also a lot of people who didn't preorder out there who would be more likely to get caught up in the excitement of a midnight opening and buy a bunch of crap they normally wouldn't. You would be surprised how bad people can be when it comes to impulse buying. The people who preordered are basically "premeditated" buyers, meaning they have now had months to think about what they are and are not going to want/need.

This isn't always the case, but don't be surprised if that is the way that some Gamestop's/EB's are thinking.
