just talked to my gamestop guy....

he was told by MS about a month ago he would be able to fill all the preorders that he took a couple months ago, which was 120.

Well today, he called, and told me they are only getting 16 launch units.

Luckily, I am #16 on the list

but that is still going to leave 104 pissed off people

I talked to my Gamestop manager on Saturday and she told me I was definitely getting one on launch. She said they were getting more than 50 and possibly more before all is said and done. Mine is paid off along with Madden. I can't wait.

He said they were going to have to start calling customers tomorrow to inform them. Thats gotta be a sucky job.

Word for word, he told me "You are one the of the lucky 16."

16 is way to low IMO, especially for a store that took 120 preorders, and was told they would be able to fill them.

There is really no clear cut company at fault here since we have no idea whether or not GS / EBGames etc were given intial numbers from Microsoft, or if they just went on a mad sales binge trying to get as much money as possible, as quickly as possible. If you think about the people who have put even as little as 50 bucks down back in May / June / July...multiply that times the amount of people who reserved...thats a nice chunk of change to keep in the bank earning interest until the actual product has to be paid for.

This is why I have always thought camping out is the best bet, you dont have to pay for ridiculous bundle prices (some are OK)...and your not left out in the cold trying to get a refund if your unit doesnt happen to show at launch. It's always been well known that the Best Buy's / Walmart's etc have much more buying / inventory power than the EB's and Gamestop's. Comparing the specialtly shops to mass market retailers is fruitless, the big companies move MUCH more inventory than the game stores do.

That being said, congrats to those who got in early enough...I will be camping out at my 24 hour Walmart on the 21st, and if that fails I will hover around the Target / Best Buy parking lots the morning of the 22nd.

I called my Gamestop today and he said he "wasn't at liberty to divulge their allocations" (although an assistant manager told me it was 12). I had to chuckle at that and asked him if he was expecting a riot or something.

I gave him my name and he said that I was guaranteed a unit (and all the peripherals) on launch day so no one will have to be drawn and quartered.

I paid off my 360 a bit ago, and was told i was 10th in line. I called yesterday to see how many they would be getting. They told me 8. I was about to tear that gamestop apart as I had pre ordered in may, and i asked them about 10 times since if I was going to be gaurenteed one at launch. They kept telling me yes. well, i talked to the manager today, they said micorosft has now alloted them more, more than they had preorders for. I found that odd, as many have said that they dont have enought to fill their pre orders. Im beginning to think this shortage is really false.

They also told me since i paid it off, i could come in early and not have to wait in line. Very nice.

I'm thinking that the stores will get more than they have been allocated. There is no earthly way that a videogame store will get only 10-20 units of one of the most highly sought after console ever. It just doesn't make a whole lot of sense, ya know? I'll be at Wal-Mart early on the 21st though, to try to snag one.

Why I may get the 360 CORE system...

If I buy the 360 Core system and a HD seperate. Then buy a warranty for 2 years. When I got exchange my 360 w/ the Warranty I will still have my original HD. What do you guys think? Just a thought

Back when the ps2 came out my EB got 20 units and that was with 150 preorders and its located in major city.
