That's just a little nervous that's all, with all the post saying all these negative things about shortages and people getting screwed, I really feel bad for those who are going to get screwed, but yet I am hoping it does not happen to me also, I see where you are coming from, so it's cool. Peace!

Im not liking this at all.

I pre-ordered from my Gamestop here in July. I am going to call over to the store today and see where I am on the list.

If I am not guaranteed one on launch day and am in danger of not getting one until Mid-December I will go over to Wal-Mart and camp for 5-6 hours. It's worth it IMO... don't ya'll think 5-6 hrs will be good enough?

If I find out I am too low and won't get one for a while... will GS give me a refund or is that money locked in? I put 50$ down in July.. under the impression I would get one at launch

If you paid cash, you'll get every dime back. If you did some in trades, you'll get store credit back.

EB/Gamestop is no where near, in the same league as Wal-Mart as far as buying power or influence in the market.

Those reports make sense. Because of its giant reach, Wal-Mart has the leverage to demand as many consoles as it wants. It makes sense for Microsoft to give the largest retailer in the US what it wants, even at the expense of other retailers. Getting as many Xbox 360s to Japan as possible at launch time is understandable in light of Microsoft's stated desire to capture as much of that market as possible before the release of the PlayStation 3 from hometown-favorite Sony.

Isn't Microsoft banking on making most (if not all) of their profit on the video games themselves and not the console? If so, wouldn't it make sense to make the company (Gamestop/EB) that sells the most games the "happiest" on launch day?

What I don't get is how they have games coming out next week for 360, but the system won't be release until the 22?

To have them on the shelves. Get people interested, and it's one less thing to ship all at once. You get the stuff to the stores in pieces.

Best buy is starting pre-orders on wensday, ONLY FOR REWARD ZONE MEMEBERS. I have one pre-ordered at TRU already, so now I may do the Bestbuy pre-order and sell one on EBay.

FF, so if you're a Reward Zone member, does that mean that you can walk into Best Buy wednesday morning and pre-order one? Or did you need to be specially selected?

yep.

the core is in such low demand that you'll probably have a hell of a hard time finding one once the "shortage" starts working itself out.

Actually I preordered a core syatem from EB games. They claimed they could guarantee me a core system, but couldn't gurantee the bundle.

Freaking Dilemma... Might lose my preorder spot...

I preordered the 360 at a EBGames by my job... I came down with a car issue today, that I need to have fixed, and I had to pull the money from my preorder to help pay for it.... Crap... I'm bracing myself for not being able to pick it up at launch.

However, the area where the EBGames is, is not an area with a lot of "gamer traffic"... It's in an area where it's just offices, no mall or anything... Everytime I've been in there, it's always empty. I'm thinking of postdating a check, since I'll have my holiday bonus by then, and picking it up... What do you guys think? I figure I'll have a pretty good shot, since I don't think a lot of people will be going there.

Yeah who knows. I haven't been charged for it yet either. I did notice that DOA 4 has been delayed to 12/1/05 though. I planned on trading in that one anyways.
