    Re: Alan Wake (360)

Remedy has said it will be longer than the Max Payne games. It's been said to be 10-12 hours.

It could be more or less, depending how much exploration you do. The nighttime sequences are fairly linear, but the daytime offers a chance to explore and get to the know the locales of Bright Falls. Remedy says they have a lot of ideas to encourage replayability, but haven't mentioned any specifics yet. We know there's collectables and apparently achievements that will offer specific challenges to complete in certain parts of the game. Also, pretty sure once you finish, you can replay any episode.

This game is definitely on my radar. It seems to me that developers and such are actually branching out and being a bit creative. I'm not even all that big of a horror gamer but this looks to be slightly different but has some of the trappings of the genre.

I really that it's much more about the mystery, suspense, tension, than excessive gore and creepy monsters coming at you.

I'd say this is more of old school, 60's type horror as opposed to the gore fests of today. That's why I'm so psyched for it.

David Bowie's "Space Oddity" will be featured in Alan Wake. Supposedly, there will be some more licensed music.

This is really cool. It's an example of the kind of videos we can find in the game world (when viewing a TV). Sam Lake doing the Max Payne face again.

I really hope this comes out for the PC, like it was originally planned, after going through 3 360s I'm scared to buy games for it. The next time it dies I'm done with it.

The game looks great and sounds like it could be a blast. My only thing is I hope you can choose to deselect the adaptive difficulty in case it doesn't work out. I would hate for it to dumb down because I get stuck on a part or become impossible because I hit a good stretch. I don't think I've seen a truly good attempt at it yet as these tend to be the short-comings of such systems.

I'm not against the concept or trying to further the idea, I just hope they have standard difficulties as a fail-safe.

I really want to play this now, especially after watching Giantbomb play Deadly Premonition, even though that game is kind of bad.

I'll take your word for it...don't really remember to be honest. I thought thought it trended on the easy side, but I could be mistaken. Maybe that's a good thing in this case though (meaning if I don't remember the dynamic difficulty, it must not have driven me crazy...lol).

                              We'll see.

I wasn't planning on getting this but man, everything in that video just looked to be on a completely different level than most games.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)
