I don't think Sony will opt for a "marketplace" like xbox live. I think they are content with an open architecture like they had for the PS2.

Originally posted by APOCHDTV's are the new color TV's. Look how that turned out. Yes, people eventually will purchase an HDTV, and then possibly buy a next-gen console. To some people a HDTV might sell a PS3 or to others a PS3 might make people shell out money for an HDTV. I believe it'll work both ways. How many of you saw yourself with an HDTV now that didn't have one two years ago? So, I think most people will have one within a few short years. Blu-Ray will already be established and thriving (assuming the best case scenario).
Well, it's not suprising you haven't heard about Sony's DVR plans at any previous press conference. They haven't had it yet. Stay tuned.
I wouldn't bet on that just yet.N.Y Mets

Originally posted by APOCYes, but money they plan on making back. Sony will be fine.
Blu-Ray and PS3 is really make or break for Sony. They have to get it right and make a profit, otherwise Sony could be in a lot of trouble.
MS on the other hand, can take a HUGE loss on Xbox, and still wake up the next morning and feel good about itself.
Sony will be walking a very thin line on how much they charge for this thing.Comment

Originally posted by APOCIt's good that Sony isn't catering to him then. Other's will care to however. That was my point.
I'm sure there are many more with the same scenario as me. I dont need a all-in-one multimedia machine, I want a video gaming console that will have exclusive titles like Metal Gear and Grand Theft Auto. All that other stuff is simply fluff to me right now. You can pretty much gauge from this very thread that many ppl hardly care about Blue-Ray and DVRs. I have no clue why you think ppl will actually care about all that extra stuff. Just cause you do.http://neverfollow.biz (Independent Music Group)Comment

Originally posted by APOCIt's rumoured they'll match Xbox Live feature for feature. They will more than likely have a type of marketplace considering Sony is a big player in the movie and music industry. It's a great way to advertise. That is one thing I am sure will be there.Comment

Re: Playstation 3 Information, hardware, games & more discussion...
Originally posted by aholbert32There is a problem with that comparison. When Color TV's first came out it still took over 10 yrs before they became standard in every house. The typical life cycle of a console is 5 yrs so even if HDTV's become damn near standard in most homes in 10 yrs...that will be after the PS3's life cycle.Comment

Originally posted by joebooNo, that's not true. My 360 has NEVER froze or locked up on me playing any game. Nor has it froze/locked up in the dashboard. It's been running flawlessly since I bought it.
So please don't make statements such as this which are 100% wrong.
Ditto and I have a release system. I've had quite a few 15 hour days of playing when my nephews come over and not even a hint of a lockup.Joshua:

Sure.
No, I cancelled my pre-order at EB in August. I didn't by into the hype for long. I have had 0 regrets, and glad I didn't waste my money.
All you can say is "probably." Probably is what you rely on. Probably is all you got. I have indeed played NBA 2K6. COD2, PGR, all before and enough to "probably" have an opinion on the 360. If I hadn't played it, I "probably" wouldn't have room to talk about it.
Actually, you are in love with the 360. You are, and you know it, but won't admit it. I have indeed stated I prefer the PS3 over the 360 (many times in fact).
The truth is, there are FANBOYS...... and then there's you, Mr. Moderator. Self-explanatory.
You didn't buy into the hype for the 360???? Yet that's all you've done with the PS3 because that's all that's been out there for the PS3 is HYPE.Joshua:
